Currently sitting on HR OE Sports, but I took measurements before the install. I'll dig them out.

The taxi is getting long in the tooth. Ha! Still so much fun to drive.

This is a great thread. I just read it from first post to last between last night and this morning. I'm a new member to this forum. I had a 2017 M2 that I enjoyed, but wanted something with an old school feel. I traded the M2 in for an F150 (wanted a truck) and I recently got a 95 cosmos black, 5 speed, from original owner with 125k miles on it and all service documentation. I love the feel of the E36 and I think i'm going to have more fun driving it on the street than the M2, which I always felt I had to hold back on. I had an f30 335i 6-speed prior to the M2 (also 6 speed). The I like the clutch feel in the E36 the best (still original clutch). I do 2-3 track events per year, so the E36 will still satisfy my track urges, and as a novice, I'm not trying to set lap records. I also wanted to start doing some DIY projects on cars, so this should be a decent car to do simple things on (i'm a rookie). More advanced stuff i'll still leave to the shop. Thanks for sharing your journey with the car!

That's awesome M2. My m3 use is about like yours and I love driving it - obviously. Glad you enjoyed the thread.

So I put some new Porterfield R4 and Centric high carbon rotors on over the weekend in prep for a couple days of HPDE at buttonwillow. I had been using PFC Zrated but I decided I was ready for a more track focused pad. After a brief bedding, all I can say is: the dust is insane! Street performance seemed fine after a few stops - not what I was expecting. But I'll definitely be swapping out likely the R4S for street duty purely for dust relief.

Later this week she gets a full rear bushing refresh plus some new tires.

    Expecting amazing.

Quick update for the OG following. The porterfields were excellent on track. Way beyond the z-rated. Much greater confidence diving into corners after the long straights. But yeah, way over the top noise on the street, so I ended up swapping in some R4S. Back to a great street pad. Feel really similar to the z-rated.

    Now for the crazy.

Bit the bullet and ordered a factory new door card from Germany. Should arrive in 3 weeks. A little pricey, but I hate the vinyl bubble on my driver side. Pics to come.

OK. Finally got around to unpacking the door card, ready to put it on. New looks amazing! Manufactured in 2016 so hopefully they've got the delamination figured out. That said, my mouth went dry and stomach turned a bit when I realized I would need to take an xacto knife to this beauty. No holes, just stencil, where the speakers go. Not up for cutting into a $700 piece of fiberboard and vinyl today. Stay tuned.

I just wanted to say that I admire your car. Love the Dakar, I was actively shopping for one but came across a deal on an Alpine White one that I couldn't pass up.

I wish you the best getting the door cards shorted out. I'm surprised you need new ones at that low mileage, must be the hot weather. Mine has always been a northern car and the cards are perfect at 155k miles.

Use hole saws on a drill. The speaker cut out diameters are marked on the backside of the panel.

Thanks Pizzaman. Yeah, I had it parked on a parking garage rooftop with the driver side facing south years ago in the summer. Came out and the whole driver side at the armrest had bubbled. Back then new cards were NLA but they made a new batch. Had to ship in from Germany - none in the US.

I'm equally worried about screwing up the vinyl. Seems like I need to cut that first then go from the back side to cut the fiber. But the stencils are on the back, so not sure about vinyl first.

I would look into very slow cut from the back until you get to vinyl and than cut vinyl with exacto from the front leaving you extra to fold inward of clearances of the speakers housing permit. Just another idea.

Hey - Not sure if you're lurking here or BaT anymore. But your prediction, unbelievable at the time, was probably only about a year off. 4 years, maybe 5 and they are on top of each other. Ha! Nice call.

I didn't think it would get this crazy. No benefit to those of us that won't sell. Just makes fucking parts harder to find haha.

    - 98 m3, techno/anthrazit cloth, 124k and officially worthless - 89 m3, alpine/black 143k and officially old - 2000 323it, tiag/grey, 169k and officially boring

I'm sorry to hear about the Porterfields, I had a 10 minute IV with them before they sold me a set for the 911. Street driving is great, no difference from stock but at the track it is late brake city.

Yeah a decent e36 M3 Coupe example with 100K miles can fetch 25-35K I like the wheels on this Dakar 95
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-bmw-m3-203/

I'm having an e36 Restomod built, CA legal LS3 Swap. I'm glad I picked up my project car in early January before prices really took off.
But hey Crate motor/tranny, new Paint , suspension, interior and customer Apple CarPlay and the wait ...... is priceless

The latest addition and update. From a fellow enthusiasts, original dealer brochures for the M3, M line up, and 3 series line up. Reading through them is like shopping for a new e36m. Ha!

You can also find some other M3 brochures on ebay.
