    2012 BMW 328i coupe - seat memory

I've read the owners manual. I've read the FAQ about activating the seat memory. I have selected the "last position" button......and also tried it inactivated. I have pushed the memory button, the led lights, and then pushed button one to memorize a position....the led goes out.

I can't get the seat to move to the memorized position.

What am I doing wrong, or is the system not working properly?

If the car is not stationary, you have to press and hold for it to move.

Perhaps I'm confused about how the memory feature should work. My understanding is that the "seat position profile" is kept in the key fob memory. When I insert my fob the car should automatically move the seats to the memorized position. That doesn't happen, and even when I push the position 1 button it still does not move to the previously stored position.

It is kept in the fob as long as you program the buttons properly and lock with the fob. Also it only returns the seats to the primary position stored on the fob and only if you have that setting on in the OBC menu or iDrive. You may not be programming it properly. You need to press the save then ptess the desired button.

I didn't realize you actually had to push the button that had stored the seat/mirror position. I thought it happened automatically when you inserted the key fob.
All I have to do is push the button after I have inserted the key fob.

Unlocking the car with the fob should be enough. As I said, there is a setting to having automatically go to the stored location either when you unlock or when you open the door. Also the fob part is only important if you use 2 fobs with different settings, otherwise the setting is stored in the car eitherway.

I have gone to this menu and the block by #3 is checked. Still does not work automatically.

If I understand the owners manual every personal setting I enter should automatically be initiated when the car is unlocked with the fob. The manual talks about a "personal profile", but there is no button named that in the iDrive. I gather that the system automatically sets up my personal profile as I select iDrive options prior to removing the key fob.

The last seat/mirror position function only works when I press button 1.

It appears that something must be wrong with the system.
