Where to get a carbon fiber hood

Did a search and didn't find any results that are current (2012).
Any suggestions on where to get a decent quality one within the $600 or lower price range?

    Hi,

At that price level or lower, I think you'll have to wait for a 2nd hand one to come up for sale. I'm quite sure that retail price levels for budget CF hoods in the USA are significantly more than $600

    Cheers, Dennis!

theres one on eBay in FL for $100 plus shipping, but it needs serious refinishing.

I know seibon has them for 700-800.
Cheapest one...I think it's produce by carbon 8.
I used to have them, but the carbon weave is not that good, and backside of the hood is very unrefined. You probably can get more info from ddm. I think they might know ways to get that product.

Are you looking for weight savings or just the look? The good dry carbon fiber ones won't be cheap and the cheaper ones will be reinforced with other materials or the whole thing is fake carbon and end up no different or even heavier than stock.

I'm just want it for aesthetics as I was going through some old threads drooling over the ol' Eurodyne carbon fiber hood.

if you just want looks, just do a vinyl CF wrap. fake/reinforced CF hoods are garbage and most weigh as much if not more than stock hoods. wet CF hoods are still pricy and heavy too. real dry CF costs much much more than your budget. MUCH more, like $2k+.

I can't confirm but I've read a similar number for the stock hood from many different sources.

Mmk.. well While were on subject i want to repaint my hood... but I was thinking that if ima do that i might as well get a whole new Cf Hood and just paint that. But the weight "loss" isnt even over 25lbs.... so would yall just use the money to paint your oem hood, or go head and go all out and get the CF one an paint that.?

Are yours suffering from rust? I'm getting cf hood and trunk lid next year as the rust bubbles are coming back, I'm going to get it painted to match thou, black hood/trunk/roof is just too Import Tuner-ish for me.
