    clutch/neutral safety switch

The starter in my 92 325is will engage with the clutch out and the car in gear. I know newer manual gearboxes that I have tinkered with have at least a clutch cutout and some a neutral switch to keep a moron like myself from starting the car when it is in gear. Does my 92 have this? Just wondering if there is a clutch switch that is faulty. At some point I would like to put in a remote starter, and this neutral cutout circuit is crutial for this type of thing.

    thanks,
    J

IIRC, 92s cars didn't come with that switch, 95 or 96 (I don't remember exactly) and newer cars got it. Mine's an euro specs 94 and it doesn't have the switch either.
