Man too bad about the hood clearance....but I am reminded by the parish turbo fairmont (600hp turbo 5.3 lm7) .... a nicely trimmed hole in a hood is not necessarily a bad thing.

not sure if you have figured out the headers but these look mighty fine.

I am planning on a LSx swap into my 97 528 sooner or later, I would love to be able to check yours out sometime. I'm up near Charlottesville so I'm not too far away from Richmond.
At this point is there anybody that does not have an e39 ls swap?

Swap looks like its coming right along! Do you have plans on selling that custom made supercharger?
Went and looked at this one with intentions on a LSx swap but he wouldn't take my $3500 offer.... Blah

E53 LSX Swap Coming Soon!
^PM sent
Waiting on some parts I ordered to come in, so not much progress. I have been throwing around manifold designs for weeks. I think I have finally set a plan.
I think I will make a set similar to these. Would be a pile easier that making tubular manifolds and would be less likely to crack I think.
May not flow as well as a nice tubular setup, but the F body guys are using truck manifold with great results, I doubt these would be any worse than those.
Input?
For anything under 1000+hp those should work just fine
If you are going to daily drive the car make sure you use fairly heavy gauge tubing and that the welding is rock solid.

It will be a daily driver, and on the welding side, I have no concerns. That said, I have never used stainless for exhaust, any input on "grade" and gauge would be appreciated.
Schedule 40, don't make the primaries or the log huge. It will be a lot easier, and cheaper, to use mild steel, but I understand the desire to use stainless.

I was thinking 1 5/8 primary's and 2 1/4 or 1/2 tube. I know steel is way easier, but this time I'm going for it. =)
That sounds good. Stainless is a PITA, but it is worth it

I'd say schedule 20 304 would be plenty. I think if you go schedule 40 your welds will crack instead of the pipe. 304 will take a LOT of heat, but if its ever going to get to the point of glowing red, I'd go with 321 just for extra security.. Super expensive tho.

Nothing wrong with log manifolds. Simple, compact and flow well. Check out onlinemetals.com for material. Schedule 40 pipe will be hard to work with in larger sizes: 2.0 is 2.38OD with .154 wall. Half that wall thickness would be ok.

My new paper weight made it in today.
Did I need it yet, no... but its so fun to look at =)
You should walk around the shop blowing through it like a trumpet. The funnier you walk while doing so, the better.
Ha! Nice paper weight!
