We weren't side by side, to be fair the Honda was quick to 60. It can Rev to 8.5k RPM but once it hit 60 it started to struggle. Both runs were done in bad rain and on slippery roads. I should have switched my traction off really, but it was just a bit of fun.

I'll have a go at the throttle tomorrow.

    Here you go

Sorry couldn't resist a bit of Astley

Here is the proper clip, it was edited by the Honda driver....you can see he added a little bit extra to make him look faster

After a bit of moaning I got him to sync the cars to hit 20mph at the same time ........

yeah, have you been Rick rolled before?

Honda faster? nah it's just a souped-up sewing machine without traction He was a second or so slower and my traction killed the power at around 40MPH. To be fair to the Honda it is fast to 60 but lacks torque, you have to scream it to 8.5k in every gear, miss a gear and its all over. The traction on it for a front wheel drive car is amazing. We will do another Dry run soon, with the traction switched off

I tried a quick run in my E38 today, It's really quick off the line. I'll try and edit the footage later.

then lets maybe not start one. It would become one crazy offtopic. It could also maybe make you work less on your CSI and that is something no one here wants and for that I might get a BAN

BTW, my friend used to have an Accord Type R. Amazing engine, I always had the impression to be very fast when driving it. Faster than my CSI.

It was only the impression, though

Thanks well I want to check to see what difference the ignition revamp and other changes have made. The exhaust will be the next on my list if results are lower than expected.

Going in the right direction, 382bhp this time .

Next on the list is the Exhaust.

Those Innovate guages are great but when they are displaying the afr average of six cylinders are they of much real world use?

I have one on each bank (12 cylinders) yes they are very accurate ! The latest ones even more so than the old LC-1's
Even the slightest change is registered, that along with plug readings gives very useful data.

    .
Unless the Dyno is faulty then some odd things have happened. Max power and torque have shift up the RPM range. My theory on this is that cleaning the throttle bodies allowed them to open up fully, allowing higher RPM and ultimately more HP. It would have also decreased airflow velocity from lower rpm's hence the drop in torque in the mid range. This is because the operator starts from idle with the pedal to the floor.
So if this is the case and the throttles have allowed for an extra 20HP, then having slightly larger throttle opening could give some more. I'll have to check the diameter of the throttle plates and make some calculations

Thanks for the update on this absolutely absorbing thread! It is interesting to watch the dyno runs, most of them on YouTube end with the engine exploding or the car escaping the rollers.

I'm guessing the fuel will be fine at max load but that the engine is not producing the kind of power it should. It's going to take a while to map ignition timing....check static timing matches the suggested value.

I'm going to swap the fuel feeds on Friday and a few other things to see what is causing one side to run lean....its tricky because the damn EML is running the show....I'll be very interested to see at what point the EML actually gives me WOT.....difference between K and S mode is very noiticable and thats all throttle response based.

Once I have that sorted I will get a dyno run sorted just to give a baseline for future changes.

Now I have an XDF you could swap larger injectors and dial back the constant

Can anyone help me? I need an working xdf file for a 474 DME Bosch Motronic 5.2.1. This is for a 97' BMW 540i. ANyone?

If you let me take a look at the code I could tell you exactly what they did to it :-)
