Hey folks!
The season has started. This weekend Alfa is hosting their first track day at PIR. Cost is $100, no need to pre-register.
BMW track day is on the 26th, same setup.
The weather permits, these should be very good track days.
Hope to see some of you there.:

Was down at the track day on the 13th hosted by AROO. Had a great time with a well organized event, great hospitality, and awesome price. Akakubi, I think I was pitted just behind you in the Canadian contingent. Here is a link to our friend's website: http://www.otcevo.com/diary.asp
Highlight of my day was getting to drive the Porsche GT3. All I can say is what an amazing car.
Nice pictures! Yeah, it was indeed a very fun fun day. :Originally posted by Anno_M3

Did you drive the white Evo? That was one very fast car in our Advanced group. It blew by me like I was parked. Do you know why it was blowing blue smoke? I hope everything is OK...
The GT3 was a very nice car to watch. But you gave us a scare....twice. Was it slippery there. The m Coupe also went out at that same spot.
I also got to see the Modena go off the track inTurn 6 right in front of me. He was trying to catch up to the Spec Miata, but pushed just a bit too hard. Not every day you get to see that.
We'll be back on the 26th, same gang, including the Elise or Westfield depending on the weather.

I was actually driving the Estoril Blue M3 Sedan but the owner of the GT3 let me take out his GT3 on the last session of the Intermediate Group. I was thinking of trading in my M3 for an 89 911 Carrera but after driving the GT3 I think I need to save up for a GT3. The owner of the GT3 just picked up the car about 2 weeks before this weekend and this was the first time driving the car. His previous car was also at the track, that was the blue 993TT.
I didn't get to drive or sit in the Evo but I heard it was wicked. He actually had the boost turned down because of the oil problem. He figured out the problem part way through I think. It was a loose hose on the blow-off valve I think.
As for the BMW track day on the 26th, you mentioned it was the same format. What exactly does that mean?
I see, interesting. Yeah the GT3 is one insane car. If I ever own a Porsche, that would be the one to buy (maybe even an RS)
Same format means cheap ($100 for members of ACA, or $135 for the first timers with the membership included), lots of track time and great "management".
There are 4 great clubs that run PIR days best: Alfa, BMW, Lotus and Shelby - no gimmicks, lots of track time and friendly crowd with plenty of exotic machinery.

Thanks for the information about the clubs at PIR. We won't be making the 26th unfortunately. I believe there is a tri-club day in June and we will try to make that. In the meantime, a few of us from our group are planning on making the trek to Thunderhill for May 21st and then May 23rd at Infineon.
Thunderhill is great. I really enjoyed that track.Originally Posted by Anno_M3
I'll most likely see you at the Tri-club. I'm off to the UK in May. Planning to hit a couple of track schools as well while I'm there....
Have fun in CA!
