AA Turbo upgrade path... what do you think about what I plan on doing

Well, here is my plan for my AA stage 1 for my 325is

1)Get the Turbo rebuilt and have it thermal coated
a.Have the shaft lightened (this supposedly reduces a bit of turbo lag)

2)Have the exhaust manifold thermal coated
    a.Also have the internals smoothed

    3)Get a larger intercooler
a.Bar and plate design, 3” inlet and outlet (about the size of the AA stage 3)
b.Change over to 3” piping from the turbo to the throttle body

4)Go to a 3”in down pipe with a 3” high flow catalytic converter, out to a 3” exhaust tip (no muffler)

5)Add an aquamist system to keep heat soak to a minimum

    6)Get some chip tuning

I’m hoping that this will net me more power and to run a safer higher boost level

I can't comment on that idea because I'm new to F.I. However, I'll be interested in the results because we have the same engine. When I went S/C, I was very happy with the results and thought that I was with the "pack" as far as HP. But now must people are talking about moving to 400, 500, 600 and even 900 HP......so you see, I feel like I have a 2 inch d--- when everyone else is packing a lot more

None of that will really allow you to safely run a higher boost level, you need to drop the CR if you want to safely boost more....And the IC shouldn't be a high priority especially if you still only have the 16G stg1 turbo, You ought to be thinking of either building your engine, or swapping in a bigger one.....
If I could start over again, I would have built my engine first thing, but, I didn't so now it will have to wait....

Trash that little turbo step it up t3/t4 ball bearing 18g or 20g tight housing for quicker spool up, also install an external wastegate for percise boost. You can make power larger injectors 440cc and a larger hfm AA has Porsche twin turbo upgrade hfm that will adapt to what you have. Have AA send you a chip to get started because its all in the program. Maybe Nick G can burn you a chip. AA tuning is rich more on the safe side. You can also install a Super AFC 2 from Apex to tune Afr. I would also install an Msd ignition and convert it to wasted spark, regap the plugs .25-.28 Denso Iridium Ik22. Good luck
