    Turbo Upgrade Question?

    Hey Fellas,
I am trying to have my stage 2 turbo upgraded to the T60-1 hybrid unit...
I need to know what size compressor wheel is used in it...
Thanks for your help, also, can anybody reco a place to have the upgrade done? I will most likely have turbonetics do it, but if anybody has any suggestions, please, let me know...
    Thanks again!

    Hmm,
Matt, will that work with my AA manifold and wastegate and what not??
If so, let me know where to find it

as long as you get a t3 flanged exhaust housing it will work. you will to get a new engine mount though. you will also have to run an external wastegate. EMC should be able to help you out with that.

some other things you will probalby need:

    upgraded fuel system
    tuning
    bigger injectors

    Cool,
Matt, I have the external wastegate already done, I am only running 8psi as high boost until mid summer when I can get my LC HG on the car, I also already have the 47lb injectors, and I intend on having my fuel pump upgraded as well...however, the fuel pump should be able to wait until I up the boost right?
Let me know what I have to do for 8psi, I have the tuning lined up as well so no worries there...

you should be good then, just get a t3/t60-1 and a new engine mount so you can fit it in. Im not sure what specs you should run though, it all depends on what you want (ie fast spool up, more top end, etc).

Matt are you saying if you were to buy a T3/T60-1 it would bolt up to the AA exhaust manifold and all you would need is the right engine mount changed.

I see cheapturbo listing it for $650.00 is this for the complete new turbo.

AA wants $900.00 for this upgrade and that using my old one.

Rich let me know what you end up doing I would not mind going with the T60 and run it on my stock compression.

Yes $650 is for a complete new turbo. I got my T3/60-1 HiFi from there. Great service there too. I had to rebuild my turbo and wanted to get it heat coated too. And he sends it back to me with a polished compressor for no charge.

T3 vs T4 is mainly size with the T 4 having the larger size flange and larger turbines housing wheels etc...

as far as I know AA doesnt use T3/60-1, they use a 60-1 mated to a tdo6h mitsubishi turbo.

    I got mine at www.turborepair.com

If you do get the T3/60-1, save up for a scavenging oil pump coz you might have some oil drainage issues.

a .82 AR t3 is alot bigger turbine than the td06 and with that t3 you will still spool the 60-1 up...farily quick and still have alot of topend that the td06 housing would be a big restriction to.
I'll be using the .82 AR t3 on my 2.8 auctually.
I don't think the oil pump is nessary on a t3, eric doesn't use one i know. But if you want, it can be picked up for $200.

Which is a better setup? The T3/60-1 or the T3/60-1 HiFi? Will the HiFi fit w/o changing the motor mount? What is the difference in power production? Anyone know what kind of power at 8psi with stock compression and no race gas I could expect?

The HiFi, you wont have to change your motor mount. Its a 3in induction.

FYI, the 60-1 "Stage3" setup AA uses is the regular TD06 20G Mistu rear end mated to a Garrett T04E housing with a 60-1 compressor wheel in it. That's it and that's what I'm running right now, except my turbine wheel is clipped ~ 10 degrees for better top end flow.
I'm going the oil scavenging route as well, along with reducing some of the oil pressure that gets to the turbo---too freakin' high.

T3 vs T4 main difference is the size of the turbine and wheel options. Just as a guess....a .58 O trim T4 (small) is probably about the size of an T3 .84 or >stage III wheel.(larger T3) If using a 60-1 compressor wheel? It will remain the same size in both application.
