Great info, awesome work MMMGP
Now I know my E36 is 1 of 169, my E39 is 1 of 174....and my SVTF is 1 of 146.
Did you happen to have the list of Individual colors in addition to Avus Blue?

How do you read that?
VIN/Radio/Paint color/Interior color?/?/Series/Frame/Model/Engine/market/?/trans?

i know its impossible but i wonder what are the actual numbers of these cars still running today.
if i had to guess, out of 1000 cars that were manufactured in 1997, i would say 700 of them survived and are still driven on the street today.
but thats just a wild guess and a number i just pulled out of my ass.
This is so cool, thank you for putting together this info!
My sedan is 1 of 166.
Current:
98 M3/4/5 Alpine/Magma
05 MazdaSpeed Miata
Sold:
00 Honda VFR
99 528iT M/T
98 M3/4/5 Arctic/Dove
94 R-package Miata
89 Honda NT650
87 325is turned SpecE30
If I read the table correctly, I'm 1 of 7. Maybe the only one that didn't come with sunroof...
Very cool info. I have a '98 TV 5-speed non-lux over Dove with folding rear seats (and originally the factory spoiler, but I had it removed because it looked ridiculous). I've always been curious about how many were imported because in the 13 years that I've owned it, I have never seen another one in person. So I figured the numbers had to be pretty low.
A couple of years ago Car & Driver published production numbers for the E36 M3 sedan, so I knew the number was around 4,500 brought in. I was able to guesstimate from that a number of around 300 for TV over Dove with a 5-speed. Looks like I was a little optimistic.
I never really considered it to be a rare car, but according to the table you posted, it is one of 119. Maybe not "rare", but definitely uncommon. I wonder how many Camry sedans Toyota makes per day. I'd bet it's a whole lot more than 119.
Thanks for doing the research and posting the results. You have probably answered one of the most commonly asked questions about BMW production stats.

Before I found my M3/4, I test drove a 98 TV M3/4 in So Cal back in 97...it was auto though (and leaking at that) so I passed on it. Love TV though, if it had been manual I would have jumped on it even if it it had been leaking!

It looks like it's going to be well less than 1 of 50
Mine is ee06087, estorial on mulberry lux package 5 speed with folding rear seats. I know the color combo makes it 1 of 25 but I wonder how rare when you factor in the folding seats ?
Great work on putting this together !
