Is the door lock up or down? Also take the small circular cover off from inside the door handle finisher and unscrew it, then take out the handle from the cavity in the door panel and pull on the cable in the door, use force.

have you tried pulling the inside door open lever twice?

if the doors are locked intentionally, you can open it up from the inside by pulling on the lever twice.

The unlock/lock actuator has probably gone out. You will need to find a way to open it by pulling up on the black knub on top of the door.

    Smile Cable loose?

I had the same problem with my e39, I was replacing my window regulator and as soon as i put everything back together and screw in the door handle, the door handle felt loose with loss of grip and the door wouldn't open nor unlock. What happened is that the cable attached to the door handle is loose. So the trick is I yank the door handle with force to side opposite to the direction where the door lock is causing pressure on the cables, while holding the door handle with pressure i quickly screw a hole to the foam of the door and screwed the handle. Now that the wire has grip and force the door should unlock and open like how it should.

    hope that helps!
    best of luck!

The cable isn't loose. It's just right with the other doors. It wouldn't open when I pulled it out and manned it like trini suggested and yes I've pulled it many times. Anytime I pull the lever, the lock pulls up but doesn't open the door. I'll try finding the knub u speak of xenic. Is it outside or inside?

the door lock may have seized up this is common on e39 my front passenger door done this some times it opened and some times not then it completely stopped opening I took the weather strip off from the outside off the door and and used a wire coat hanger to put the seized arm up and open the door

I will be back home in a couple off hours and will put photos up you can see the part you need to hook onto mine was seized for almost a year before I fixed it so it was very hard to get the leveler to move spray wd40 down the the inside of the weather strip above the door handle

so i did some poking around and noticed that that door as whole is most likely not getting power. as the driver of the vehicle, i never noticed that the speaker wasnt working in that door either when it was before, so im gonna guess that there is something wrong electrical wise that is preventing me from being able to open the door. i did know that the window regulator was out before any of this started happening.

it doesnt bc the lock wont disengage bc it mustve gone out in the locked position.

and for anyone else who was wondering what the second problem was, its the center driveshaft support bearing. gonna get that replaced soon. i was so focused on the flex disc, i didnt look further back on the shaft, but thanks to a friend, he noticed that it was the support bearing.

I dont think so with mine i needed the window open to get at the level and put the wire on it to put it up
The door card is to well fitted to tear off with door closed you could cut a hole in it l took my oppsite door card off to see what level i needed to pull you could do same to see where to cut

Ok gents, so I was able to get to the insides and look at everything. That lever wasn't seized but as I pushed it like u said and pulled the open cable, it still wouldnt open. Was causes that lever to engage/disengaged? And how did u do that champaigne?
