Not much done since the last time, when I installed the driver's side manifold on.
I have been doing a bunch of E38 stuff recently (complete suspension rebuild and coilover install on my brother's 740i, soon a blower and a 6 speed conversion), parted out an E38 750il, and now have to stuff that engine from the parts car into my newly acquired 98 750il.
We have hit the rain season during my last update, so if we're lucky, we get one dry day a week. Since the e34 is outside, not much is being done.
After I complete the 750il motor swap, and get it roadworthy, I'll try to get the 540i6 into the garage and keep working on it. There's not much left, but every little tiny details sucks up time like crazy. It took my brother and I like 3-4 years to build his integra the way we wanted it to. It's still not done, little details need to be worked out, but it's one little crazy monster.
Here's a few shots, a little old but not much has changed.

As far as I could find, only about 6 of the M60 engines were ever turbocharged, 4 were not in an E34. One was in an E28 that made 700whp+, one in a Volvo that made 640whp on E85, and one that is a funny car build that makes 1200WHP with twins. There was also an E32 740i build with twin GT35Rs. Looks like I'll be 7th M60 to be turbocharged on the web.

Unfortunately no, other than sending out the rear PCV plate to Greg to make a delete plate out of aluminum.
I have been focused and working on the 750iL recently, this will go into the garage after the 750il is back together and running. Then I can work on the turbo build, regardless of the weather outside.

This is the same intake manifold as on an M62b44 (early non-vanos), right?
If so, I might be interested in having you knock out on of those for me too if you're willing?

Cool, maybe I can get in on having him knock one out for me while he's at it? I haven't really looked at the PCV situation on these, but I take it that this plate will fix things up for pressurization.
Is there a tube that runs down the center of the intake to that plate for some purpose that I can't really remember? I've been working on a lot of other stuff since I redid my valley pan and intake stuff...

The factory piece would've worked somewhat with slight modifications, but take a look at it still. Notice how it has a huge diaphragm that fails often on factory engine, I will now went the OSV to the atmosphere with a catch can, or do an exhaust vent setup. Then there's the useless 3/8" barbed fitting that is only used on the E38/X5/maybe E39 chassis for the brake booster? The FPR and an extra 1/8" ports are not barbed, and will likely pop off hoses under pressure. I also needed more ports to attach the map sensor, boost gauge, and the blow off valve. Thanks to Greg, we're solving many issues with his custom piece. I think that he needs to start producing a lot of them and sell them. There's plenty of supercharged M60/M62s out there that can use it.

I know, there's only a handful around that actually are FI. The thing is, I would recommend this piece for a factory replacement. The factory plate bends a lot when you install a new gasket and only lasts a few years, if that. At $50-80 for a factory replacement, this would be a great investment and a permanent fix.

Im interested in doing a few more, I would prefer to fine tune the design some more with DUD but after that sure. Could also do some custom things depending on what you guys want but please keep in mind this is a hobby for me and really just a good diversion from working on my S38 setup when I get frustrated so you may have to be patient with me.

The prototype showed up this morning. The first thing I did was go in the garage and test fit.
The piece fit perfect. Every bolt hole lines up nicely and the plate overall fits perfect.
Thanks again for doing this. I don't think anything needs to be changed from the prototype.

No. If you look up a few posts above you'll see what the factory piece looks like. It contains a PCV valve with a huge diaphragm that frequently fails. The way the factory PCV is setup, it will never work for a FI engine, and I'll be venting to atmosphere for now. The 2 little vacuum outputs are not enough, and it will be hard to secure the hoses on them under boost. The large barbed fitting on the factory piece is not used on the E34, making it useless and just another potential failure.
What Greg did is delete all these problems, and gave me up to 5 vacuum/boost connections. I need at least 4 sources (map sensor, boost gauge, fuel pressure regulator, blow off valve). The factory piece is also plastic, which bends quite a lot when you tighten it down, causing the gasket to fail faster.
A test piece he machined out of plastic for a test fit. Now that I confirmed that it's perfect and nothing needs to be modified, he is going to machine some out of 1/2" thick aluminum.
