the red wide body that looks like a ferrari was nice.
(I remember when my wife used to dress like that to wash my car. Not)
For those who dare, transform an 8 from its original beautiful lines is a personal choice. Many of us want to personalize our cars some less austere than other. It distinguishes it as your own. The trick is to not overdue your original concept. When discussing my concept with a car body builder I sometimes had to be uncompromising. They often want to set in motion their opinions and design, sending it over the top.
I already knew what I wanted. I designed my car and drew it out before approaching the idea with the fabricator. I wanted to keep the OEM side quarter panels lines but make it wider so that I could cover the door OEM handles and not remove them. My 63 year old fabricator only would do the work if it was done in metal. That process took 13 months. The design was partially completed. Unfortunately he was not able to complete the entire work due to a critical illness. The car was painted and rolled out to 2007 Bimmerfest where it won Best Modified BMW. In 2009 it went under the knife again and was completed to the current design.
Finding the rights color took 6 months while the work was in process. Finally with Tim’s “From Germany” (for those who remember him) helped Photoshop many different colors and design. I finally made the choice. It may not be everyone’s taste, nevertheless it was my vision.
That's one clean eight Ferns. I hope to have my eight that clean and well put together one day.
Broke but feeling great!
Fern,
Where are your headlights? Did you install low and high beams inside the turn signals?
What "thumbs up" really means
In 2007 I installed 6000K HID's in the FTP and use them for headlights. They are behind the smoke covers that I put on for this picture. The high beams are where the parking lights were but I seldom use them because the HID's are very bright I added the M3 fog lights below the front bumper. I also have running LED lights for day use as seen in the this picture.

it is a JP Visage lower piece made for a Camero that happen to fit. It was added on below my OEM bumper. I painted the inner section by the tail pipe tips flat black.

That front end is a e46 M3 made to fit,
Off Topic-
Fern, could you give a picture tutorial on how you put the headlights and highbeams in the the FTP? That would be a fun project to work on and improve the lighting on the 8.
csi front lip and acs rear. The rest are all too fast and furious IMO.
Ha! Brilliant! My point made. Although your car is not my cup of tea, Fern, I do admire the quality of the work. Superb.
It's in there! And a main Actor complimented the car.

That was a quick one. They shot that for a week and it was only in a very quick scene. It was the first time anyone has paid me to park my car.
CSI kit and call it a day. More value compared to aftermarket.
Google the E31 Greggson kit - looks pretty good!
Available here in the UK - but am sure they ship too. I am considering it as my front needs some attention
Ferns car is very cool. If it is not your particular cup of tea, remember, he didn't build it for you.
Desecrator of all things Sacred

Thanks for bumping this thread, I haven't seen that car. I like Ferns car a lot. Very smooth lines. Mine is 100% original, so I don't have the heart to make any changes (even a CSI kit), but would love to get a second one so I can.
