Ok, really need your help on my E90!!! I bought the camera from ebay, installed everything and then got to the head unit. NO VIDEO INPUT ANYWHERE ON MY NAV SCREEN OR RADIO!!!!!! What can I do? It's not worth it to me to spend hundreds on an interface module, I would rather just not have the camera..but I hate to do all the install work for nothing!!! Does anybody have any suggestions?

Great writeup. I spliced into my cables, got all excited as a picture flashed up, but picture scrolling non stop - then I realised I had ordered a PAL camera! I have now just ordered an NTSC camera. My PAL camera for sale $25 Aust.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but it appears that this upgrade can't be done unless there's a TV module installed. Without the TV module, there's no blue/white connectors. Now to find one and the associated harness. Looks like there's a bewildering bunch of part numbers that might apply...

How did you wire this all the way from the monitor to the back? Did you snake the wires through the center or under the door kick panels or something?

The OP has/had a BMW TV Tuner in the trunk. So, the video goes thru the TV tuner. You don't have to run video cable from the trunk lid to the front of the cabin, just to the TV tuner. The TV tuner is then notified by grounding a pin to push the video in feed to the monitor up front in the cabin. When the pin gets un-grounded, the monitor goes back to whatever was input to the monitor prior.

@nonfatwater7: If you are considering this upgrade, the definitive thread is here (see post 41 for nav connector pinouts):
    Backup Camera for TV Module

TV module part numbers (search eBay) are here:
Here is my collection of Video Module part numbers

Cable assembly from NAV to TV unit is part number 61126915132, available from ECS Tuning still for about $55

Ok so I'm a little confused lol. I'm installing a new android head unit at the same time and thought I would add a backup camera too. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think my only option is to wire through cabin and directly to the head unit? I'm trying to figure out how to get my RCA input cable from the trunk, through the cabin, and into the head unit (neat and clean of course).

with a new head unit, you will probably need to wire through the cabin as you suggest. The backup camera install solution that I provided links for is for enabling the stock backup camera option for a Nav equipped E39.
