I don't know, while I'll agree that it will make it stiffer, it should still allow just a bit of flex if needed. That's why there's poly in the holes - it can flex/move if there's a need. It's not gonna absorb any vibration or energy (which I consider an improvement - I want that energy at the wheels myself), but it should still flex just enough if there was a mis-alignment in the parts. And I'm also curious how much things move under there - with good mounts is there any appreciable movement between the parts that will 'flex' the flex disc? Or was it there from the factory to soften the driveline backlash? Curious now...

P.S. I am planning on getting one of the Revshift guibo's, and have since they announced it. Just thinking out loud on it's function and purpose.

The only other thing I worry about is less flex on the guibo could also mean a lot more stress on the cv axles etc. I would rather replace a guibo than the axles.
Yes, I understand the cause and effect. You beef up a part then there is additional stress/load that will transfer down the line to the next weakest link... I'm usually not that hard on a car, so I'm not too worried. If something breaks, it will be an excuse to replace it with something better!
I'm happy with the driveline, the amount of dampening and power (for the moment) .
My exhaust is the next thing I will address on Monday... I am basically running a straight exhaust through an X-pipe and a SuperSprint muffler. The sound is nearly perfect except I have a bit of popping and cracking that I would like to eliminate... I wonder if I need to reintroduce the cats or simply add resonators...? The shop told me that both solutions would fix the issue and that some back pressure would be good.... I couldn't get a clear answer on the best solution because they were more focused on the lowest cost. I couldn't seem to get them to understand that really don't care about saving a few bills, rather I want what is optimal for my car.
Cats or Resonators?
...or both?

My problem is that I am making close to 400 RWHP so the stress might be a bigger issue.
I would try the cat first since you might have trouble getting the car inspected without it. If that doesn't work, get resonators.
Cats will have slightly more backpressure (assuming you go with aftermarket cats - stockers will have more still), so with the added backpressure you should have a bit more low end. Resonators won't really add much pressure to the system, just mellow out the sound, and might still allow quiet popping (the cats actually combust the fuel, resonators just allow for expansion of the gasses). I vote cats, myself. Better for a street driven car that doesn't live at 6500 rpm's.

I had a hard time getting mine done without it. Had to track down someone who agreed to do it so long as everything else was spot on. He is no longer there so not sure what to do next year. And I am not even in NOVA.
Put the cats back on today... Mellowed out the exhaust and eliminated the annoying popping/cracking noises. Still has great tone, yet not too loud. The car actually feels more responsive throughout the rpm range.
It's perfect.

Jon was looking for sways recently, I believe the RD bars are difficult to get. Having said that, I love mine.
NC: secret RD sways HQ
Yep! It is confirmed. I bought the very last new set of e34 V8 swaybars available from Racing Dynamics!
They are now NLA, bitches!
A few new parts arrived today; Unfortunately the new inner fender trims were not the correct ones....
First, I replaced the delaminated (heated) driver's mirror
From this.... (imagine trying to see anything through this muddy mess!)
...to this factory BMW replacement! Now I can actually see again and I am diggin' the cool blue hue!
)
...Then I added a little *BLING!!!* to the engine compartment....
Liking the new ride height!
Took her down some twisties and let her stretch her legs a bit. Wow! What a difference it makes with the Konis/Vogtlands/strut bar addition. It handles better than any car I've ever had. It is compliant enough to be comfortable, yet throw it into a corner and it tracks beautifully with virtually no body roll. Not to shabby on the power delivery either... This is the way BMW should have built this car.
Now, I am anxious to get the RD sways on.
VIR, here I come!

Happy the car is finally sorted! Enjoy the ride man, glad I could have a small part in your build. We need to get our cars together for some pics and a cruise... What a sight it would be! You will love the sways, these heavy cars need them. You think it handles well now... Ha, just you wait

Just ordered my vogtland springs. Now seeing that the RD sways are NLA I'm regretting my iPad purchase instead of buying them back in May. :-(
This car looks great sir...well done and keep it up!
Think I remember measuring mine at 25/18.
Looks nice!
Glad the vibration is gone. I have Rouge Engineering tranny mounts on mine, no vibration issues..
Those disks you bought may look cool.. But more than likely they will crack on a track like VIR after one day, maybe two. Use regular blanks for the track.
You'll like the car on VIR... Also if you go to the track pull the stock mechanical fan off.. Saftey net they tend to shed blades at track speeds.

If you can take it apart you can make it faster!
Thanks man!
Here are a few pictures I snapped tonight with my point n shoot....
....and for all you motorcyclists, I dug up this picture of me in turn 1 on a Gixxer at Road Atlanta
....and another one of me leading this pack on a Yamaha (Suzuki leathers, no doubt! ) at Loudon, NH.
Enjoy!!

Absolutely beautiful pictures, I am amazed at this car's restoration. I hope to do the same with mine one day!
