I haven't driven my car in about 8 weeks?... Major changes have taken place and I have yet to experience any of them!!! (LTW flywheel, Short shifter, 3.15 and of course, the new suspension)! It's gotta feel like a totally different animal!

I am waiting on a new power steering pump and reservoir.... to arrive tomorrow? Hopefully, getting it all buttoned up and back home!!!

    I am so STOKED!!!!

I'm thinking you're going to really like it... the combination of lw flywheel and 3.15 really works well to wake up the 540/6.

I can't wait to hear how it goes gixer, LW flywheel and 3.15 are in bold on the to-do list for my car. And come to think of it, so is the new suspension (already have the short shifter part)..... sounds like we have similar thoughts

6? what widths will the 2 spares be?

gixxer -car is looking very clean....and you're doing all the stuff I need to be doing. I love the 3.15 for DD'ing and will definitely do the flywheel and solid mounts when my clutch goes....whose demise I am trying my best to expedite.

Yup. I believe there is a DIY on e34.net. You have to get the OEM ducts and brackets and then cut away the factory lip.

Gixxer, would love to do a shoot sometime.

    Now what?!?

I got my DSSR figured out, the suspension installed and the car has finally been put back together today... I have been waiting weeks, no MONTHS for this day; It was supposed to be monumental!

.....However, I got a call from the shop and was told; "The car looks great, sounds great, the differential is awesome and it shifts great, but Dude, you're not going to be happy...."

What?!? WHY? apparantly the car has developed a vibration between 1500-2700 that will drive you crazy. It almost feels like a bad CSB or driveshaft, but at idle with the clutch pushed in... This is not what I was expecting!

I didn't have any vibration prior to all this work. I know that a lot of changes to the driveline has occurred and we're jsut trying to figure this out....

New Diff, new CSB, New Guibo, New tranny mounts, New engine Mounts, New OE Sachs clutch kit and the original dual mass flywheel has been changed to a 13lb JB racing LTW flywheel. The flywheel came "0" balanced and we also "0" balanced and indexed the new pressure plate to the flywheel (according to JB Racing's instructions) and installed it using factory torque specs.... I have no chatter, but I have vibrations..... this can't be normal... is it?

The vibration is at it's worst at about 1800rpms.... It doesn't matter if you are driving the car or sitting still with the clutch pressed in.

Is this a characteristic of a solid flywheel as opposed to a dual mass?

Is it because of the Poly engine and mounts stiffened everything up too much? (these are the blue ones, not the red ones, but still much stiffer than stock)

Combination of all of the above?

Or can there be another issue altogether?

    NOW WHAT DO I DO?!?

I put in some UUC Black trans mounts in my M5 and had the same thing happen.

I have not been under the car yet but I am pretty damned sure I did not screw up reinstalling the driveshaft or flex disc.

Well, I can say with assurance that it's not the mounts. I have the same mounts, and I don't have any vibes like that at all. I'm wondering if that new flywheel is perfectly centered on the crankshaft - it did fit snugly on the hub there, right? If I remember correctly, they're supposed to be 'hubcentric' just like the wheels are, so if there's something amiss there it could be an issue. Also, check your fan - maybe it threw a blade? Hopefully you find it (or more the guys that did it - you paid mechs for a reason, it should be on them to find and fix this if it didn't do it before).

Any chance they forgot to put the pilot bearing back in? When I did my M52 swap, the block came out of an auto and when I installed it, I forgot all about the pilot. Luckily a few months later I did the UUC clutch and had already realized the problem so I took care of it then. Made a similar noise.

Awesome thread, I somehow missed it until this morning! I love white E34's with M-pars, and it will look even cooler if you put the M5 U.S. Filler plate on it.
