Proper!! nice E34
Awsome! Nice to see another one brought back from the dead.
I just found my cats are DOA also...I think I fried them at road atlanta last time Doing the same but keeping high flow cats in it.
I also KIA'ed the front left EDC strut..To much on the curbs.
How do you like the flywheel? I am on the fence with putting one in mine I actually kind of like the dual mass in it now...
Gary Gray
If you can take it apart you can make it faster!
I think I am really going to like the new LW flywheel, but I have not driven the car with the changes yet. It is still at my Buddy's shop and it's not driveable at the moment. We have an issue with the DSSR contacting the carrier and are waiting for parts. The car idles smooth and revs quickly with no chatter (Redline 75W140NS Gear Oil recipe in transmission)... but of course, I wouldn't be able to hear it over the current NASCAR exhaust.
It's going to be a completely different car when I get it back.

It definitely seems that way. I've got a DSSR going in mine when I bolt the tranny back up... will be interesting to see how it goes.
GGray: The flywheel works well in these cars. Chatter is only noticeable (in my car) with the a/c on at idle, feels a good bit responsive, doesn't affect drivability.

Unfortunately, no new DSSR information as of today. I have been slammed at work and I haven't taken the time to make anything other than business related phone calls.
The good news is that I received my Koni sport struts for the fronts today!

Just a heads up - check out this thread for info on the DSSR that might get you running faster. Short version - if the DSSR doesn't fit you can buy the other type of end for the tranny to make the DSSR you have fit correctly. This is nice because the joint in question has a sponge in it that disintegrates over time causing some slop. Read the thread for more - but it's an easy fix now that we've hammered it out.

Thought we had a clear answer today on the DSSR. UUC looked at our installed photos and told us to flip it... I could look down the shifter stalk and see that my mechanic had already flipped it... still no go. It was late in the day, so we're going to lift the car tomorrow morning and check on the joint....
Exhaust is still off the car and it is still not driveable.
Meanwhile, here are a few quick pics....
New (to me) OEM BMW clear tails... Thanks to Garrett, I may have to consider full euro trim now
New Koni Sports arrived!
More stuff to install... although I have Vogtland springs now, so the H&R Sports may not go on the car....

Damn that's a great looking car. Flat out gorgeous.
FYI when I mounted the early model joint the mounting point was on top and it's working fine... The late model joint could only be mounted one way.

Man, that's seriously clean. Definitely pick up some euro trim.
I love your cars!
How are those silverstar H1's? And keep me updated on the LWTFW, it's in the near future for my e34.

Yes. Finally! My car has been at my buddy's shop (35 miles away) and my schedule has kept me from connecting with his mechanic during normal business hours. I finally took some time off yesterday to drive over and get to the bottom of this DSSR issue. We verified that my car has the shorter knuckle and measured the original shift rod. Low and behold, my original shift rod measured roughly 215mm! Neutral was too far back and I couldn't get it to go into 2nd gear without contacting the carrier. I contacted UUC and discussed the situation with Rob. Now I have two choices; I can either exchange the 205mm in favor of the 215mm DSSR or get the longer knuckle... The shorter knuckle (looks beefier) and longer shift rod is what I am thinking.... what would you do?
Yes... this thread was very helpful. It was here that I discovered that I have the short version, which created the entire issue with the 205mm.
This: I have the one on the left. (Thanks E34nication for posting this thread!) http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1848042
Thanks... I have been told that we now own two proper German cars! Silverstar H1's are an improvement over the stock ones, but I'm hoping that Brandon will sell me his TSX modified headlights soon!

Still not sure if I want to go the smoked route but will keep you posted. Your car is looking great! And you are wasting no time.

Thanks, I hope so.... I was/am really conflicted about removing the EDC. Still want your headlights.... are you selling your wheels too?
Thanks man, I can't wait to go there either!
The 215mm DSSR and a new knuckle are on order, but the parts are not expected to arrive until the end of the day tomorrow. (SIGH!)
Too late! Here comes another weekend... Gotta wait until the beginning of next week (once again) before anything gets done!

Car looks amazing!
Is it weird to have clear corner tails and amber corner fronts?

I would sell my ACS's for the right price.. Still not sure about the lights.
It would have to be an offer I can't refuse.
I just priced a new set of AC Schitzer Type III wheels from Bavauto for $2000... ON Clearance! originally $3200!
or the type IIs (also on clearance) for $1800
...Or you could buy the type IIIs and add the type II inserts for an additional $160 and be able to sport either look whenever you choose!
pretty clever!
Yes, I like them too. These are on Bruinbimmer's car; MK Motorsport MK2 18x8.5 et +13 with 15mm spacers front, 20mm rear. I think they also come with a center cap, but IMO, I think they look much sportier with the lugs exposed..... just like the Bruinbimmer's Sig.
