E31 DME 1.7 INPA without EWS - working

Some people probably noticed that You cannot connect with INPA to DME's in early model E31's. This is becouse it doesnt contain EWS and there is no scripts for nonews version. You must know that INPA is not a public program and has been leaked from BMW.

Now, this post is to report that our friend "guest" from e31-klub.pl fixed that issue and modified both scripts! They will probably be public very soon.

    "leaked from BMW?"

    I think you mean stolen.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for using any tools that can be accessed, but let's call it what it is.

Actually, I think "leaked" is more accurate. BMW is probably the most lenient car company around when it comes to sharing their proprietary info. I suspect that lots of stuff is willingly shared, if not necessarily broadcast. You can pick up the phone and call them and generally get an answer. All the parts lists and repair manuals are posted online by BMW directly, at least for the older cars, and most everything else is treated as an open secret.
How come the middle half of any project always takes the most time?

This is the first alpha release by guest so all comments are welcome. Please write about all problems in this thread. Two first are exact copy of originals but without checking immo. The last one is a completely new one that integrate both so You can see both sides at the same moment working together. You need to copy this ipo file and replace L or R side and then select it in INPA.

    Have fun.

Great news for M70 owners! Even more amazing is the simultaneous left and right bank view. How many times I wished for that... Does guest have plans to implement the "dual view" in the DME17 with EWS as well? Or can the modified non-EWS version be used on EWS cars too?

Backup download link because the original link is no longer available:

It has not been tested but it will work on EWS cars too.

Amazing! I was just trying to use INPA today on my CSI, this worked a treat. I can't figure how to get both views though. I placed all 3 files into C:INPA/SGDAT and replaced the 2 existing files.

Thanks so much for releasing this.

You need to rename the dual-view file to one of those L or R files, and select the correct one in inpa. You will not have any additional options to choose from, so You need to put the dual-view file in the place of one of the sides.

Right I see, thanks for the explanation. Would it be possible to edit Inpa and add a Dual M70 option that points to that iPo?
    That would be cool.

go to INPA dir -> CFGDAT -> edit file BMW_ALT.ENG,
find [ROOT_E31_MOTOR] and add line "ENTRY=DMEBOTH.IPO, DME 1.7 both motronics,".

You can also start that script by right button mouse click -> open with -> select the INPALOAD.EXE from path INPA/BIN.

    greetings

I didn't use any special tools, linux mcedit only - it was quite easy, but of course took more than few hours. The source code after compile gives equal md5 sum with the original, so it is 100% bit perfect. I deleted the version checking from original, and released that scripts. I know that battery voltage, temperatures, and fault reading is problematic with non-ews cars. I am looking forward for feedbeck from you (screenshots, videos).

    Hi quest,

    superb job done
Unfortunately I can't extract the files. It says "header broken". Would you mind sending me the files via email (info@wokke.de). I'm more than keen to check my M70 using them.
    Thanks a million.

    Cheers
    Wolf

It worked fine in Windows 7 32 bit. I had loads of problems with Vista and ended up installing 7 instead.
