Schon erstaunlich das es über die ganze Jahren/Laufzeit keine Probleme verursacht hat - interressante Fundsache Wolf.

I'm sure once you are done this is going to look better than any brand new engine rolling out of BMW! Wish I could give my car this type of spa treatment .

Wokke,
Is it just me or are a couple of those cam journal bolts still loose? I only ask cause i just got done reassembling my own m70 heads. It looks like a couple at the rear of the right head are still loose.
Anyhow, beutiful work on this motor!
Your car is turning out to be a real Gem, Great job thus far!

Beautiful work Wolf, lovely stuff and I'm looking forward to seeing more progress. Thanks
Wow, 4 bolt main caps. I'm impressed with the lower end of this engine.
Looks great, Is that a Silver Eng paint or some sort of Aluminum flake paint ? and the pulleys and other parts were treated with something or dipped in something ? Good Job
Wolf...lookin GOOD!!!!!
+1 for the naked caps

...the price of cool ain't cheap!
No...I'm going to have Wolf come over, pay his way to see Mickey and Minny Mouse at Disneyworld, and then have him do mine ---- I Wish!
I'd like to do some...start on the top side and go from there. So much of the front stuff is gone anyway...we both realize what mission creep can do.......... But...also remember how big my hands are (remember us all helping to changing plug #12 on one of the cars at the SE 8 Gathering!
Again though... Wolf's work looks amazing.

It sure is pretty.
...but why haven't you put the pistons/rings/rods/heads on first? Seems awkward to have to remove everything you've built up so far...
But is sure looks sweet
No need to remove everything to mount the heads. Only the upper timing cases and they are not firmly mounted yet but more kind of stuck together.
Pistons aren't ready for installation yet. I still need to clean all the ring grooves.
saves weight.
The damper isn't mounted yet but just stuck on. I'm having the M73 t.case cover modified for the crank shaft sensors so I can slightly alter their position. This allows me to play around with the basic ignition timing. No clue if it'll bring any positive effect but worth a try IMO.
Engine block, cylinder heads, alternator, water pump and starter motor are painted using special silver engine paint. Rest has been powder coated silver with a layer of clear powder on top. Everything "gold" is galvanized (yellow zinc we call it).
Have been at DisneyLAND already but wouldn't mind visiting Florida.
But won't help anyways since my supplieres are in Germany. So you need to ship the car over the pond to me.

carb dip works wonders for removing coked up oil on the piston ring groves, let it sit for a bit and have a go at it with a toothbrush.
it is a bit tedious to do it this way but it yields an almost factory fresh part.
Mann if this is the standard im in trouble!!!
what exactly is carb dip? Same as carb cleaner or something more aggressive?
Important is that the coating of the pistons doesn't get damaged.
That's the reason I'm not glass pearl blasting them (just kidding)
don't worry, I don't think it is.
I'm just a bit crazy since I have all the possibilities to get things done that way.
