17x9.5 with 255/40/17 NT05's all around. 5mm spacers in the front. Slight (and I mean SLIGHT) rubbing in the rear as well as the front struts. Needs a tad more rear fender work and maybe a 12mm spacer to fix the strut issue?
thinking of 17x9's all around on 245/40's. what do you think spacing would be needed front or rear..or fender rolling?
right now on 17x8.5's non concave all around no spacing no rubbing...
Depends on the suspension you have.
My TCK strut have plenty of room for slamming with no spacer, but I saw KW struts get pretty close if it was to go any lower than it was.
You'll need a roll with 245 for sure, you'd be much better off with a 235 on a 9".
I dont think any e36'er has put a 9" in the rear yet. With some fender rolling, seems like it would fit just fine though, again...with 235's though...
Yes, rolled.
I wish I could compare suspensions but I am running a koni prototype product that I cant find information on nor buy replacement parts. Ive tried contacting koni and get the same answers, they wont even rebuild them for me.
There are a couple photos of my car on the first page of this thread, my summer classes started so I havent had a chance to get more pics, but ill have proper shots the end of the week.
I took this shot after Saturday’s autocross. Other than a quick fit this was the first time using them.
Specs:
Wheels - 17x9.5
Tires - 245/40-17 Hoosier A6
Front - 15mm spacer with a slight roll
Rear - no spacer with a slight roll
These are a nice addition to the 9’s which will now be used for my rains.

looking good sh1ft and sub!
sub: how much did you have to roll your fenders? I'm shocked you don't need a spacer up front!
subDdub - any fender rolling done? Looks great.

DAMN, solid turnout on this thread! awesome cars guys.
Anybody have issue with rubbing against the rear bumper? If so, how did you fix it, I dont think you can roll a bumper :/
Rubbing at that point on the bumper can be fixed by trimming the plastic. rolling the fender in that area also pushes out the mounting point for the bumper slightly. 255's are tough to fit, and will exaggerate the problem.

does anyone have an issue with rubbing on the INSIDE of the tire on the rear? specifically, those with 255s.
when i first bought my car, i was on billies/h&r race. i had 18x9" +26 rears with 255s and the inside rubbed so badly that it wore through the sidewalls. i replaced them with 245s and had no issues.
i'm now on TC Kline d/a coilovers and 245s, still with no issues. would anyone have insight to my initial dilemma? was it because the car was too low with 255s? if so, what was the inside of the tire rubbing against?

Picked these up right before bimmerfest. The guys at Apex were awesome. They took a bunch of pictures. Here is one I took with my cellphone.
Running 17x9.5 squared with 245/40 tires. No fitment issues up front with a 5mm spacer. The rear did require a roll. Running TC Kline coilovers with camber plates. -2.5 camber front and -2 rear.
I rolled, pulled and cut the rear fenders. The tire still rubs in the rear where the fender meets the bumper at the height in the picture below (18 inch). Raising the rear about a half inch (7 turns on the coilovers) got rid of the rubbing for daily driving.
EDIT - The 17s don't rub in the rear at all. The front rubs slightly if going too fast in a turn with a bump/dip.
