When I start
I get this error:
*****************************************
Registry Value failed in SubKey :
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Serial'
May be there are problems!
*****************************************
How do I fix this?
YOu need to goto Ediabas/hardware/obdsetup And run the program. That will get the registry set but if it still shows warnings or missing variables, you need to actually goto into the registry and change or add some variables to it...
To go into registry you goto the start menu and under search programs type REGEDIT....Then goto 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/CurrentControlSet/Services/Serial'
There you will find all the values from the OBDsetup. Make changes to it accordingly to make all the values say "OK"

I was able to change the Value Start to 1 but there are still several items that "failed". How do I fix that?

Don't worry about the script content unless it prevents the program from running.
If those are your values there will be no connection and it would definitely not work...Here is a picture of the correct values...Go into the registry like I posted earlier and make the correct changes to them..Once you get to the serial registry you need to look at the values I posted on the pic and make the changes to it...If you have to add a value use the top right and press edit and make changes.

Glad u got it working!
Thank you this was very helpful.
Recently I had gotten the same error message in INPA, but had no problems checking for errors on my car. I looked in the registry and could not find
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Serial'
I just checked and realized that I had left EDIABAS 6.4.7 in the C: drive after using DIS, then forgot to switch EDIABAS to 7.3.0 for my INPA(version 5.0.6). I just switched over to EDIABAS 7.3.0 and upon opening INPA(version 5.0.6), the error did not appear.
Just my 2 cents.
Thank you, it works !
?

I have to ask, but does the reg entry of "Serial" (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Serial) interfere with any ADS setup?
Or is this strictly for the "USB Serial Port" devices?
I have an USB OBD setup on COM3 (and set as such in OBD.ini) and an ADS setup on COM1/IRQ4/03F8.
Changing anything in any of the port settings (send/receive buffers) does not seem to change the reg settings. Kind of confusing what interface links to what reg entry.
