Love it - one of 363 '97 Ci..."A"'s???
https://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/c...566872924.html
There were 85 units of the US-spec 850CiA (M73 with 5-spd auto) produced in 1997 - of a total 363 units built.
This would be one of them.
Current:
1994 E31 850CSi Sterlingsilber/Anthracite Buffalo
Previous:
1987 E28 M5 Delphin
1986 E23 M745iA Arctic Blue
1986 E24 635CSi Polaris
1976 E3 3.0 Si Arctic Blue
Well, I stand corrected. Never heard of a CIA!
Also discussed here a couple of pages back:

Check your VIN tag on the door for the model designation... A is for automatic.... But looks like you've done a Getrag 460g swap... You might have to scratch off the A on your tag LOL

CI-6 maybe? No that would imply 6-cyl, and I'm already 4 short ;-)
As mentioned by Joe above, this seller has been discussed before, and my recollection was that his info wasn't always quite right (and the cars weren't in that great shape, based on someone who had actually looked at them). The reason I say "not so sure" is that the VIN on his '97' is CD05008, and with a production date of 12/94. My 1996 M73 850Ci(A) is #CD05058 -- fifty cars later in sequence, and mine was produced 9/95. So I'm thinking that his '97 is really a '95.
Of course, that still makes it a fairly rare animal, and the M73 850 with its higher torque (and hp) is (in my opinion) more reliable and a blast to drive. Specs put it as only 0.3 sec slower 0-62 (0-100 kph) than a CSi. Of course, it doesn't have the cachet of a CSi, but it's the one I would choose second. Oxford green over silver gray isn't bad either (lol).
I don't know if his asking price is high, low, or fair (although I'd like it to be low -- lol). There aren't a lot of M73 850Ci's that come up for sale, so it's harder to gauge the market price on these than on just about any other variant.

That's a bullshit craigslist ad. I've called that guy several times and he always gives me the runaround. He has several cars listed like that. Harold is right about him. He has no intentions of selling any of them He's a God Damn hoarder. In Atlanta with all that humidity and the cars sitting outside, who knows hoe much rust there is on them now.

Looks like he was originally asking an eighth of a million dollars.
Paint's not perfect? It freaking better be! No tow hook cover either!
There's a prominent BMW parts breaker in Rancho Cordova who always has high prices for mediocre items... I wonder if this is the same guy (nope, this is BAP BMW Auto Parts, I was thinking of the guy in Watsonville, Murad Motors)
But I may have seen this car at Bimmerfest last year, I seem to remember the black RD wheels.
Anyways click for a laugh. No detailed info on the swap installation either. I'm guessing he might be able to get $20-30k max. Take it to BaT and see what happens buddy.
Seems decently executed overall, but c'mon man let's not insult your E31 fan base with 'absurdity pricing'.
(sorry for the pissy mood today, must be Monday!)

Absolutely beautiful car. Spoke with the owner before it got listed. Great gentleman.
Chamberlin you aren't kidding! That's a wet dream for me, let's hope he gets it! My Oxford beauty had that number of miles on it when I bought her 8 years ago.
What I find interesting is that his shifter boot fits under the console where as mine fits over the console. I like the looks of the under the console fit better than what I have. I thought the difference was that the early models were over the console like mine which is production number 93. Apparently not. Anyone care to elaborate?

Chamberlin, I think you are correct about seeing this at Bimmerfest last year. It looks familiar to me as well, except for the seats, but the windows were up at the time so I wouldn't have noticed them anyway.

Misinformation, that's not the Detroit Auto Show car.
the pinstriping may have been added by the dealer
- CD00025 - 1994 Detroit Auto Show car; presently domiciled in California, 89k miles
- CD00026 - 1994 Los Angeles Auto Show car; presently in a private car collection in Ohio with only 5,700 miles on the odometer. (10yrs ago)
- CD00039 - 1994 Atlanta Auto Show car; presently in a collection in Virginia?
All the 1994 US Car Show cars were Aqua Blue Metallic paint.
The LA and Detroit cars are twins, with Individual interiors
The Atlanta car has a cloth interior, not leather.
All 3 got special wood, the LA & Detroit cars got "BMWindividual" door handles, vs the "BMWmotorsport" handles. #39 has "BMWmotorsport" handles
All were manufactured by BMW specifically for display at the target shows & cosmoline was not applied
