May have gotten more if he didn't have ghetto wheels.
Yes, nice car - terrible wheels and terrible photos. Representation is EVERYTHING when asking a lot of money for an old BMW.
70k miles, price seems reasonable considering the condition.
1995 BMW 850ci For Sale
Everyone selling a car should take pics like that.
Compare this to the Barrett-Jackson car in the other thread. Night and day.
As per the other thread...
Came across a car on ebay I personally know and worked on in the past, I have no bad feelings toward the seller but at the same time I felt the car is being horribly misrepresented in this ad and I do not want someone buying it site unseen and having a very disappointing entry to an 8 series ownership.
Facts:
It's a Hawaii car originally, rust is creeping up in many places, valve cover gaskets are so rusted they cannot not seal properly and smoke billows out after hard driving. It actually needs new VC, originals are so far rusted they can't be saved. From the looks of it some hack job attempted VC reseal ruining plug wires in the process by pulling them out by the cord, car is misfiring on at least 6 cylinders...badly.
Crank shaft position sensor (lower one) has melted wiring...
Car was throwing EML light, running on one bank, I installed my rebuild throttles and PCV vales, it solved that problem.
Car is not a complete goner but needs ALOT of work, not the (tune up as seller states) , I offered to fix, never heard from the owner again... It was kind of sad because the seller is also new to 8 series ownership but bought the car with no inspection of any kind...and when he realized what it's gonna take to bring it back into shape and maintain it decided to sell instead...At the time I saw it, it was a non runner. Don't think anything changed since then.

What "thumbs up" really means
We made the list and it's a good list. https://www.hemmings.com/magazine/hs...s/1382910.html
looks like a nice car, no affiliation.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1991-BMW-8-S...m=122200469629
Not sure if this has been discussed, but there is a CSI on Craigslist in Washington DC (no affiliation). It's dark blue, but BMW VIN has it as Alpineweiss from the factory. Anyone know the story on this one?
They should give me half price for the backwards t-stars on front ...

I spoke with the seller today. The car was in fact originally white, and had a color change to Blue.

How'd they manage to get inside the engine bay and paint it all blue?
This will bring the price of the car down a lot.
a late model, low mileage resprayed CSi. What a shame.
Alec - yes the respray will have a negative impact on the car, but maybe not so much as one would think. It all depends on the quality of the repaint. I spoke with the seller and here is what I learned for the community:
1. One family car since new
2. spent its life between Delaware and Florida
3. Good News - EXTENSIVE service records since new
4. The seller understands the negative impact on the price due to the color change, thus what he says (it is a high end used car dealership) is that he has discounted the selling price because of the respray.
5. The respray is in a BMW color.
I asked him about the quality of the repaint, and he said that it was very good and you can not see the original white anywhere - trunk, under the hood, door sills, etc.
It may be a good opportunity for someone to get a CSi with low miles and full service records. He said he was pretty firm on the price.
A PPI would be highly recommended.

That is a exceptional 91 Example, Certainly would have bid on it if I seen it prior to the auction ending, Can't believe with all the upgrades, No mention of Dinan sway bars, The amount of upgrades is pretty equal to the cost of the car, Nice buy!
Interesting. I wonder why the respray. The door handles look a bit oxidized to me. I wonder if it was an outside car and needed a repainted.
So ended at 13k LOL WTF...
Wheels alone 4k.
Are we hitting a down slope in E31 prices??
Thoughts on a subject...
In my mind a color change from bad color to good color is a $15k issue.
$10k for the paint job and $5k for the bad color.
for a good original color to a good color is $10k
lesson is leave it alone
