    Glove Box flashlight

hey guys, when i got my 97 328is, the rechargeable flashlight in the glove compartment was missing. i can get a new one for about 25 bucks, i think. what i'm wondering is: how bright is it? i like to have a flashlight in the car, but if the stock light is crappy and dim, i may just get a better (non-rechargeable) one and keep it in the glove box. then again, i hate to let that recharger plug in the glove box go to waste... opinions?

it is not that bad. It is not mag light bright but it is bright enough to find lost lugs in the dark or to see maps outside.

    thanks.
that's probably good enough then. i wasn't really planning to go exploring any caves with it or anything. as long as no one thinks it totally SUCKS, i'll probably get it.

    one word of caution:
I cannot make the 7-series light fit into my m3's sockets. i thought they were universal, but I tried once and had no luck...maybe I don't know what I'm doing...but...

thanks. according to the bavauto catalog, there are 2 flashlights:

    3 series 99 on, 5 series 97 on, 7 series 95 on
    # 63 31 8 377 861 ($24.95)

    All other BMWs except above
    # 82 11 9 413 147 ($24.95)

umnitza, that would explain why your 98 m3 and 98 740 use different lights.

    2 weeks later...

just a follow-up, for "thread closure":

i got a light off of ebay for $15.50 + $3.50s/h = $19.00. bavauto catalog has it for $25 +$5s/h. can only imagine what the dealer would charge.

charges and works fine, is smaller than i imagined, but also brighter than i expected.

also, re: the two different kinds of lights -- the guy i bought it from on ebay told me via email that the "7-series light" (3 series 99 on, 5 series 97 on, 7 series 95 on) is black, and the other one is white. this true?
