Yes, the Ediabas has good enough trace capability but it can not associate execution of particular job and job results with the raw output.

All I need now is trace files from bmw drivers.

Appologies if I am incorrect but ediabas can give Device to PC raw data, perhaps I misunderstand what you are referring to as raw output

Also more traces from S52, S54 like E39 M5 and E46 M3and also M62 engines would be nice. It takes only about a few minutes and won't do any harm to your car.
I've already solved most important from MS43, MS42 and MS41 (DS1 variant) and some variant of M62 (ME7.2)

Look at the OUTPUT line: 12 means ecu index in the K-bus, 1D is message length, A0 means "OK". from byte 3 starts data.

Between <jobstart> and <jobend> is issued one job from EDIABAS. The trace file generation is done by me. EDIABAS does not have this kind of trace file generation.

We will get one decoded value from EDIABAS (which means in EDIABAS terms 'job result', for example STATUS_MOTORDREHZAHL_WERT) at the end. And we also get the output that contains (somewhere) this value. As I said before value is decoded by taking a byte and multiplying it with value a then summed by value b. You just have to find out what are the values a and b. EDIABAS and .prg files do not tell you all of the details.
    Interesting. Thanks for explaining.

I really need to get the trace file from my MS41.2. But I really don't want to buy a $100 ADS cable just for this. If this can be done with a cheaper cable I could look into it. Or maybe I can find someone local who has the cable and borrow it.

WayneC, you're 100% right. Sorry If I mislead you. I just wanted to tell that EDIABAS trace file's "raw output" does not contain decoded values only bytes in hex form which as such won't tell much. Sorry about my english....

No worries, I did not appreciate your utility was doing the decode and you are/were looking to pick up the errors/differences from each ECU type, now I understand it

Updated Testo today with some small corrections to the file logger.

Jamie: please send some traces from your ECU. Thanks.

What's the most commonly requested DME for support right now?

Do you mean "faster live data" kind of support ? Well, only a few. I guess most people are not even aware of that. I've been working on ECU datas just on my own and for the fun of it.

Edit: sorry did not answer your question Right now there seems to be demand for MS42 and M62TU ME7.2

Updated Testo. You can now watch a bit faster live data for these ecu: MS41 (DS1), MS42, MS43 and ME7.2
It reads '(serial)' at the end of these ecu names that support faster live data.

Check testo.ini and change com port to correct.

Hey, you can try MS41 for your car. It should work but values other than RPM most probably won't be correct.

Pretty sure he's using the same method as you... Run a list of all jobs, then decode the output. His software can poll the ECU the same way through the serial port and each command returns a whole bunch of values that have to be parsed into human readable format.

You don't need to run a list of jobs, but that'll definitely help you procure info for the different DMEs.

If you downloaded 21-April version please download newest (22-April) version. Previous had a "small" bug with serial port based ecu's. Gotta love C++ and locales..

Any way you could stuff in some more readouts for my Non-EWS 540i/6 from december 1994? Especially Lambda/Oxygen sensors...

Oh, I see you need some trace files.. Will make some for you tomorrow - what do you need me to do with the car running to get something out of it?

first.. Could you try if 'std:obd' setting works instead of 'ADS'. I assume you're using that mode

    - - - Updated - - -

    menu: Debug-> trace
select your ecu (m60_338k) and then press 'run trace'. If OK then the trace file should be found from DebugLogs dir.

problem is that I don't know how to do correct initialization on L-line which I believe is needed with your ecu.

    Can somebody confirm this?

STD:OBD doesn't work on my car, that's why I bought the ADS interface in the first place :-). When I need to communicate with IKHA, ABS and so on, ADS is the only thing that works... I get API-0006 error (in Testo) when I've opened COM1 under debug->serial port, and API-0013 if I don't do that first. :-( So no luck today. I guess I've done something wrong messing with GT1 yesterday, as INPA couldn't communicate with the car either. Format C:, and a fresh install - then I hope to be ready for some testing again. :-)
