I am heading up to blue Island LKQ in a bit. I'll check on the trans situation for you.
The silver e30 has an auto trans. It is a 1990 325is. it is disconnected from the drive shaft, the cylinder head is removed and so is the oil pan. it should be very easy to remove

So who scored some good stuff at the recent 50% sales?
I went on Saturday... and was told the sale was only sunday and monday. PISS ME OFF.
Anyway, I got the rear black leather door cards (e34) and an e39 auto gear selector... should have grabbed the entire shift assembly. Black glove box with wood trim, but no latch, and a set of US elips.
Omg this was a fantastic idea. My dad just got a 92 325i that is lowered has intake and exhaust for 400 bucks. It is a father son project and we need an engine. I think the piston rings are shot or the timing chain broke. I'm in Peoria but I go up to Chicago and Rockford alot. I am in need a junk yard that has a decent selection of motors for a good price. We may try an engine swap also. Thanks guys.

If you are in Rockford, there is a u-pull it yard at 601 Harrison street. We could use an inventory update from there. Their prices are higher than the u-pull it in blue island although both yards are ran by LKQ. Anyone know if the Rockford yard follows the LKQ sales schedule? From what I heard, the next LKQ 50% may be at Thanksgiving.
On a sidenote, Pick-n-pull has a 20% off engines either all this week or next week and some discount on tires as well. Both discounts are for Toolkit card members.

If you are thinking about an engine swap, might as well find a 2.8l. and make sure you get to the yard before somebody takes all the heads... haha
By the way, the timing chains on these cars rarely break. and it's easy to check... the m50 is an interference motor. if the chain broke, it wouldn't turn over cuz the pistons would hit the valves.
Update.
Summit picknpull
97 e39
90 E34
96 318ti
And a few more e36s.
Hammond picknpull has
95 e34 glacier blue
92 E34 island green
Thanks for the update
Red e30 hit hammond this week. Still has good pass ellipsoid. One of the E34's has a non-vanos motor. I've heard that some people look for those as preferred for E30 swaps.

33% off Pick-n-Pull yards October 5th through the 8th for toolkit members.
Hammond pissed me off last week. Why are they so damn expensive there ? Side view mirrors are 50 bucks a pair ? And I had to remove them ? Jeez. I thought it was a junk yard.
I think the cashiers are commision based. I know for a fact that they have a sales goal. IIRC there was a sign hanging in the back last year stating a $2500 daily goal per cashier. One of the cashiers in Hammond is very $$$ hungry. I bought an e30 head last year and while they normally just charge for "head w/cam" she also charged me for rockers, timing gear, rocker shafts. I brought the head back the next day as it wasn't worth it for me.

Summit just got an 87 635Csi. Looks like it was fairly well taken care of. 144,xxx miles. I already got the 3.46lsd though.
Oh damn. Need to hit that tomorrow.
There is a 633csi there too. I think it was a rat nest though
I think the brakes are an upgrade for my 525I.
Hammond has a 99 528i. No body damage. Missing hood. Tan interior, light blue exterior. Poorly maintained drivetrain.
I am looking for an E32 750iL if anyone comes across one.

I'm looking for one also. What parts you want from it ?
Diff lsd
I'll let you know if I find one.
Did you get my pm ?
Have you guys come across any LCI (2001-2003) E39s? I can't find any E39s whatsoever up here.
Over my last 3 years of hunting, a 2000 E46 323i is the newest BWM I have come across. The 99 528i in Hammond is probably in the top 5 as far as modern BMW's.
