IS there anyway to get this to work on a 96 DSP system? The site only lists 97+.

All I want is a simple mp3 player and it's a friggin college course to figure out!

Yeah I almost bought that one till I saw this.
Yeah I've been reading them all and they all seem to say to replace with cd43 radio and I do not want to. I have the tape deck and no nav dsp and would be happy to just replace the cd changer. Why is this such a pain in the ASS!Compatibility Notice
1.Not compatible with BMW Reverse RDS radio or radios with DSP(Digital Sound Processor) stereo system.
2.Not compatible with ALPINE CD53 radio-R50 or BMW Navigation Professional
3.Not compatible with BMW Business multi-Info radio with navigation
I haven't even got to the speakers or amp/Sub yet.

can i bump this?
Hmm, that looks promising. Anyone think that would work in my car? I've got no DSP, no navigation system, no amp... Just the CD Changer in the back and that's about it. I take it that system just plugs into the CD Changer by the looks of it? (I'm new to this in case you couldn't tell!).
Would love to get a USB solution going for music, and for me, the ideal solution is something that can be mounted back there in that boot panel alongside the CD Changer where no one will see it!
That looks identical to the MP3 player I just bought for my 2000 with DSP. All you need is a DSP adapter, which is around $60 from DICE IIRC.
EDIT: Actually, I scrolled down and saw the "connector" picture. That's waaaay different than mine. I assume it's the same main unit with a different cable then, so I take back what I said. If that connector is what's at the other end of the cable coming out of that unit then no, it won't work. However, the Bimmernav version would work. Just don't buy their DSP adapter, I did and it's freaking noisy as hell.

For my money just by the grom unit. More "legitimate" source and similar price. I think they also have a cheaper unit wo BT compatibility that may be up yoyr alley.Originally Posted by Sobek
Or search ebay for an older dice unit. Noe that i mention it there is a non BT unit there too i believe.
