hi,
does anyone know where the thread is regarding change the menu buttons in inpa? i want to custom mine so the e36 option is on one of the f keys.
cheers,
j.
Jamie, it is just a matter of re-working the INPA Configuration settings file (found in INPA/CFGDAT folder). You will also need to create an E36.ENG CFGDAT file (as the E36 has been lumped in with the old models in INPA). Email me and I will send you my customised configuration settings file (which has the E36 allocated to the F2 key) and a copy of my E36.ENG file. (You can view the content by opening them with Notepad).

HA!!!! I saw this thread and decided to play around with some file settings. Here's what you do....
Go to the folder C: INPA/CFGDAT
Scroll down till you see the INPA.ini file with the gold gear on it. Double click on that file so it opens in Notepad. Scroll down till you see this...
F2 = E85
F2_ARCHIV = SGBD_E85
F3 = E46
F3_ARCHIV = SGBD_E46
F4 = E65
F4_ARCHIV = SGBD_E65
There is one for each button on the bottom of INPA. Find one you want to do without and edit it. I chose the E52 button.
Start with this
F6 = E52
F6_ARCHIV = SGBD_E52
Change it to this
F6 = E36
F6_ARCHIV = SGBD_E36
Click on File/Save
That's it. E36 now opens with the F6 button. You of course will lose the ability to use E52 as far as I know so make sure you change a button you will never use.
Thanks for posting. Ive wanted to do the same thing for a long time.
EDIT: I see F9 button is blank. You could insert E36 on that button. Just copy the format or even asign F9 to an existing body style and reasign E36 to a different button.
This is what my final button asignments look like
F2 = E36
F2_ARCHIV = SGBD_E36
F3 = E46
F3_ARCHIV = SGBD_E46
F4 = E65
F4_ARCHIV = SGBD_E65
F5 = E39
F5_ARCHIV = SGBD_E39
F6 = E52
F6_ARCHIV = SGBD_E52
F7 = E53
F7_ARCHIV = SGBD_E53
F8 = E60
F8_ARCHIV = SGBD_E60
F9 = E85
F9_ARCHIV = SGBD_E85

thanks for the email david,now is it just a case of removing my original files in inpa and replacing them with your ones?
Jamie, if you remove any existing files with the same names and put them in a backup folder on your desktop after you UnRAR the 9 files, you can then put them into your c:\INPA\CFGDAT folder. Functionality will depend on how upgraded your INPA installation is (mine has files from INPA v3.10, v5.02 and INPA 2010). Try it and see.
cheers!
There so much more configurable in INPA.
For example I split up the E36 menu for both my 328i and M3, only showing the DME/ACS/ABS/module applicable to each car. And also split up within the modules into USB and ADS modules, so I have a shorter list depending on what cable I use.

It does seem nice to tweak, trouble is it can be fun and you could easily spend more time tweaking than saved
No warranty of any kind implied or given and no liability for any loss, damage or injury, no matter how incurred accepted.
Once you are familiar with the process of customising INPA menu options, it is a quick and painless process and the results are both satisfying and time-saving. How deeply you delve into changing the options (i.e. changing the number of pages displayed, menu colours etc.,) can be time-consuming, but the amount of data available through INPA is awesome and has formed the basis for lots of other diagnostic products.
Color? Interesting. I have not seen any entries for colors. I take it that goes beyond some editing of textfiles.

Yes, all the details can be found in documents contained in the DOK file of your INPA installation. Be warned though, you will need some extensive time and perseverance to plough through all of the information there - reading the info there is drier than a mouthful of warm sand.

Haha lol. I might give it a quick look-over. I have more important stuff to do first, like the mission impossible of getting my Do It Auto ADS-USB interface working, which so far always throws the IFH-003 error. I followed everything to the letter, which is tough as in different docs they provide, they contradict themselves. And providing downloads to newer non-ADS versions if Inpa/Ediabas doesn't help neither.
