89 325i E30 2-dr, One Of The Best, Must See!! SF Bay Area SOLD
After much deliberation, regretfully up for sale is my beautiful one-of-a-kind 89 BMW 325i 2-door. I have said that in the past over various vehicles, but this one truly is special to me. It took me a long time to find an E30 this nice, & I know I will most likely never come across one like it again, but a recent career change & family needs necessitate the sale of this amazing car. It is in incredible condition & is 100% original with the exception of the tasteful upgrades mentioned below. Yes, this is one of the higher priced non-M E30’s on the market, but I guarantee it is not possible to duplicate for less…especially considering how clean & original this car is. The car has only had 3 adult owners, has been in the SF Bay Area since new, has never been tracked (I did do 2 autocrosses with it last year), & has been garaged almost every day of it’s life. It has 230K very well-maintained miles on the working odometer, but the car literally looks like it has less than 100K miles. Included with the sale is all the original books, some maintenance records, a 95% complete tool kit, & the original window sticker which I had framed with the original BMW magazine advertisement. Here are the details about the car…
The color is Zinnoberrot (Cinnabar Red) & the paint is completely original & looks absolutely amazing for it’s age! All body panels are 100% original & all VIN tags match. Other than some minor rock chips on the front valance & leading edge of the hood, the body on this car is nearly flawless. There are very few BMW’s of this vintage with paint & body condition this nice & original (there may be nicer examples, but most have been repainted at some point). As you would expect, the CA title is clean, & there is absolutely zero rust or prior damage on this car.
The interior is tan & black, & matches the immaculate condition of the outside of the car. The dash is 100% crack-free, all electrical items work properly including the OBC, all gauges function correctly, & the carpets/door panels/seats/headliner look very nice. All the owners have been non-smokers, no funky odors in this car.
It has the original M20 2.5 liter SOHC 6-cyl that runs great & pulls extremely strong. Also has the original 5-speed transmission that shifts great, no grinds, & has a strong clutch. Oil has been changed every 2-3K miles, & other than one small drip of oil occasionally on the ground from the oil pan gasket, this car needs NOTHING mechanically…I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere.

· Very strong S3.73 limited slip diff installed from an E30 325is.
· KA Motors carbon fiber cold-air intake.
· Bimmerworld performance plug wires (not cheap!).
· Vintage 90’s Sebring cat-back dual exhaust system, sounds & flows great!
· Mark D 91 octane chip, great response & pulls super strong.
· Black powder coated valve cover.
· Gunmetal gray 15x8 TR Motorsports wheels (14 lbs ea) wrapped in super sticky 225/45-15 Hankook Ventus RS3 tires.
· Rear fenders have inner lip rolled for additional tire clearance.
· “is” front lower lip painted black.
· “is” rear trunk spoiler painted black.
· Fog lights removed for weight savings, custom built carbon fiber delete panels.
· Cross drill brake rotors front & rear.
· New Hawk HP+ pads, stainless lines, & ATE Blue fluid ready to be installed.
· Motorsport Hardware zinc plated 75MM bullet style extended wheel studs & nuts.
· Bilstien Sports & Vogtland springs (nice drop, yet rides very nice & handles great).
· Unknown brad adjustable sway bars front & rear (these were on the car when I bought it, they are red).
· Billet upper rear shock mounts.
· Z3 1.9 short shifter with leather 5-Spd ZHP knob, all new shift bushings, boots, hardware, clips, etc.
· Old-school Momo steering wheel from the late 80’s (I’m unsure the name of it, but I have the numbers from it).
· Faux-Alcantara shift boot & E-Brake boot with Motorsport colored stitching.
· Sony CD player with Aux input, MB Quart component speakers.
· Beautiful Recaro LX front seats in tan leatherette, includes E30 mounts & sliders.
· All 3 rear windows tinted nice & dark.
Here is a list of items replaced in the last year or so... Radiator fan shroud, hoses, belts, thermostat, throttle body gaskets, valve cover gasket, hood support shock, almost every small hose around the engine, the correct Bosch spark plugs, cap/rotor, all new front suspension – control arms, M3 offset CA bushings, tie rods, upper shock mounts, etc. Also new rear wheel bearings, driveshaft guibo/flex disc & center support bearing, custom alignment, OEM sunroof crank handle, & probably more that I am forgetting. The timing belt & water pump were replaced approx 3 years & 25K miles ago.
The only real issue with the car is the A/C needs to be retrofitted & recharged if you want cold A/C. Living in the Bay Area, I never really needed the A/C so it was no big deal to me. Otherwise this car is pretty tip-top & doesn't need anything. After my new GTI was totalled, I have been using the E30 as a commuter every day for the past 2 months with-out issues, before that it was pretty much a garage queen for the last year or so & was only driven on nice days. It is VERY fun to drive, has excellent power, yet still gets around 25 MPG on the freeway & is remarkably comfortable.
I really hate to get rid of the car, but I need to consolidate down to one car & need something newer & more spacious. Asking $7900 for everything, even though that is well short of my investment.
