Post BMW Announces Pricing for new M5 and M6 models at New York International Auto Show.

The Fifth Generation 2013 BMW M5 Priced at $90,695.

Manhattan, NY – April 4, 2012 – 10:15 am EDT…BMW today announced pricing for the all-new BMW M5 and BMW M6 at a press conference on the occasion of the New York International Auto Show. The 2012 BMW M6 Convertible will be the first of the three new M cars to arrive in US BMW Center showrooms. The M6 Convertible arrives this June and will be priced at $113,995 (including $895 Destination and Handling). The 2013 BMW M5 and 2013 BMW M6 Coupe will arrive in late summer and will carry Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices of $90,695 and $106,995 respectively (including destination and handling). BMW also announced the pricing for a refreshed BMW X6 M that arrives in BMW Centers in May. The 2013 BMW X6 M will sell for $93,795 (including destination and handling).

The eagerly anticipated M5 and M6 models are all powered by the most powerful engine ever fitted in a series-produced model from BMW M GmbH – a high revving 560 hp M TwinPower Turbo V-8 mated to a high torque 7-speed M-Double Clutch transmission (M-DCT). It is all connected to an innovative Active M Differential which optimizes power transfer between the rear wheels ensuring the engine’s performance is transferred to the ground. The new engine produces around 10% higher output than the V10 engine of its predecessors and torque is up by over 30%. At the same time, real world fuel consumption and CO2 are expected to be reduced by approximately 30%.

not surprising. i remember seeing a loaded E39 M5 back in the day with a $85k price tag.
i wonder how much a fully loaded one tops out at.

Another M car and another 10 grand more.

and I just noticed the E92 M3 has crept up to 60k, making it start 12k more than the E46 M3.

Value for money: 2013 Shelby GT500 75k with dealer markup, 650hp supercharged. Just saying.

That makes total sense. A full size family sedan versus a two door sports coupe. Not to mention, better standard equipment, technology, etc.
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?

Now read what is in the BOLD print below.

Btw, the BOSS 302 MAY be quicker then the M5 or an M3 for that matter around the track but....I would still much rather drive the M5 or M3 because it is a better car overall. It may not be quicker stock but you can always make it quicker with mods. Plus you would have to buy 2 cars to equal out to the M5 which means 2x cars for insurance and 2x the maintnance. So if you add up all the cost for comfort and performance....your really paying more to get the BOSS 302 and the car to use for a family car that would be equal to the M5's comfort.

ha, just some sar-chasm they're different classes, you can't compare them!

As for the Boss 302, the new M5 will melt the doors off a Boss 302

Surprised that the M5 is not starting at $100k though I won't be able to afford one for a long long time . $90K and change isn't bad . Gonna check it out tomorrow and take massive pics, though everyone will have the same idea. My M5 has every option except for the sun shades and the MSRP was at $74,154.
