What happens if you unplug the TPS harness when the car is still on? Should it shut down or continue running but roughly?

I'm thinking I have a big issue since my idle is a bit high, at 1200rpm and when I replaced the ICV and cleaned the adjacent pipes, idle went down to 1k rpm but I'm thinking the TPS is the fault or am I missing something?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. If I change the position sensor over on my 2011 E81, will I have to sync it at all? There are no error codes at present. Hoping it’s just plug & play.

This is the E34 forum, better ask for your 2011 E81 in that forum. https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/f...8-F20-F22-F23)
