    318iS Project and our Barn

Got this 1991 318iS with 223k on it a few months ago with plans on turning into my first track car (dedicated).

Paint is totally oxidized, but that's the perfect recipe for a fun weekend of detailing. Needs some bits and pieces here and there, but EVERYTHING WORKS. The side-view mirror motors work, no leaks, no BS, all electrical equipment works, it even has a damn cup holder. LOVE IT.

Best part about the purchase, is that on my way home there was some great E30 love from another 318 on the road, and we caravaned for a while.

Classic times- it reminded me of how much I love this culture of E30ists.

This is our barn at the new house:

    The backside of The Barn

One of the many car configurations we've been through:

First time putting a car on the lift; gave it a good simple green and underspray wash:

First wash, then claybar (that red E30 in the background is actually my last Red E30, for those of you that remember, it had bullet holes. It went to someone a few towns over, then they sold it to my friend- stoked that it's still around):

I was really stoked that a $30 10" orbital off Amazon could get a good cut into the paint with Meguire's Medium Cut Polish:

    Sup it up:

    With our other buddy:

    HR Race
    Bilstein Sport
    Control Arms, Tie Rods
    SS Brake Lines
    Rotors
    PFC Brake Pads from Bimmerworld
    Apex 75MM Studs/Nuts
15x8 et0 XXR wheels with 225/45-15 (got these for 350$ with tires so I HAD to buy them).
    RaceSkid
Oil Filter Housinf Gasket and Ring
    Oil Pan Gasket
    Valve Cover Gasket

Had to get the rear fenders sorted out in a week before Laguna Seca. Didn't have access to roller, and was a bit lazy so this happened:

The fenders are totally temporary, currently have E46 330Ci front fenders on order to try in the rear. If/when those are successful, will order another pair and do the rears.

On the way to Laguna Seca last weekend:

    At the track:

800+ miles later this car drove home safely without burning or dropping ANY oil.

Also have had this guy for a while now:

And picked up this guy a while ago:

Finally put floorboards in the '64 MGB, it runs really well. Just needs some little suspension bits, new fluid in the shocks, and new front brakes. Already have everything from RockAuto, just waiting to put it all in.

    (not me)

The barn is getting full (is full):

Nice setup! I'm sure you two will put it to good use. Gotta love the outdoor hoist setup.

Update on the E30 Fender Flares:

    - E46 Coupe front fenders from AutopartsWarehouse: $130 shipped.

Cut off the old temp flares:

    Prepped new flares for cutting:

So excited to get something properly molded:

Old vs New. Left lots of excess in the initial cut:

First test fitting. Not too concerned about distance between fenders yet (in this photo), just wanted to see how much work was ahead of me.

    [imghttp://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr48/drboboh/D48D4D9A-EF00-412E-9EF6-1CE12FB3F21A_zpsygcc7jjj.jpg[/img]

Dropped the fender much more this time, still keeping the shape of the fender with the arch on the body. Starting to look super good.

The final result of the fenders on each side is about two fingers width between the top part of the fender and the tire. This is with 15's, and on HR Race springs. This is plenty of room for beefy tires, 17's, and many other combos (while still looking relatively stock). Gonna get these welded up soon, bondo, sand, then I really want to do the fronts as well since these turned out so well. Also, these fenders still have a small lip in the inside that will get rolled.

    Do it.

Yeah man. They're gonna look awesome. Nice e30s. Might track one myself down the road.
