has anyone put a older 5.0 in a e38, my c5 transmission seems to clear the tunnel quite well. my v6 will not work as the motor mounts are no where near the cars mounts, im hoping a 302 will be a near perfect shot so i can build mounts and mount them to the car how they should be.

i put the 5hp24 side by side with the c5 and the c5 is a good 7 inches longer so ill have to shorten the bmw driveshaft and weld the ford slip yoke to it. no more guibo. driveshafts are fairly easy though. so far i know the exhaust manifolds will clear and everything else, i need a Styrofoam 302 so i can make my mounts a bit easier.

Whether you use a 5.0 or an LS, I'd suggest using fuel injection. It's not hard to wire it up and there are plenty of instructions out there.

    Damn, that's a beautiful car.

alright back to the v6 again, ive figured out my motor mounts, i used an aftermarket ford 302 universal adapter kit and it works ok. i have the right motor mount bolted to the block and its resting on the cradle, all there is to do is weld away, the left motor mount was a bit more challenging but ive got a good idea.

on the oil pan im trying to find out if a front sump 302 oil pan will work than just cut it down. thats assuming the block on a v6 is the same as 302 as far as where the oil pan bolts to block, just a cylinder short of course. that would be very simple and easy. im snapping photos now.

I hear that alot but for some reason i rarely see a e38 m62 with over 160 k miles on a original motor, i have slowly grown to hate german engineering, ive had nothing but trouble. one thing i cant get around is how beautiful European cars look all around. I say no ones going to see this ugly v6 under the hood so i really do not care as long as i can drive it and it runs 75 mph reasonably well and of course i am using the original exhaust so it will be as quiet or quieter than that m62.

I don't get this swap at all. But its your car and your money. I actually feel sorry for the car.

I've heard of some crazy swaps, but this takes the cake!

That is a damn nice E38.......then I'm thinking, why would he use a 3.8 out of a mustang,.....then I saw what it came out of (and not even knowing what that was). I just don't get it.....do you just want it to roll down the street?
    What is the goal?

With all due respect sir, I think this is a dumb swap but you've already made your reasons, so anyways!

You've all been trolled, lol. No way anyone would seriously put a shitty 3.8 in a 740. Lol.
