    FS E36 3.46 lsd diff

For sale is a 3.46 LSD diff with a 4 bolt flange. Bought it with the intention of making a competitive auto-x car, but priorities have changed. Prefer local pick up. Will ship at buyers expense. Appears in great shape!

Calculate your desired tire application and input the gearing to figure how it would suit your needs.

Shipping shouldn't be too bad. Let's say $50. If actual shipping is less, I will refund. Anything more I will pay out of pocket.

Who built it? How much lock up does it have? Polished gears? Ramp angles?

Hate to admit it, but at the time of purchase I didn't know what any of those things meant. It was built by a local competitive auto-crosser, or at least for him. That's pretty much all the info I have on it.

Very interested, but is there any way you can get that info from the guy who sold it to you? Did you ever have it installed? Can you be sure that there is still good lockup and no whining at all?

I have never had it installed or tested in my own car. I cannot tell you something I'm not 100% sure about. Unfortunately, whatever has already been stated is all the info that I have.

Thanks for the bump good sir!

I have honestly been considering that. Having very little history of it I don't want to end up with a remorseful buyer and I have been wanting to run one of these for 3 years.

How big of a dip in MPG did you notice after going 3.46?

It will cruise roughly 500 rpms higher in each gear at the same speeds as your 3.23. When I had my s52 swapped e30, I initially had the 3.25 with the ZF, with 235/40/17 tires and I cruised about 3500 at 80mph. When I put the 3.46 in, it bumped up to 4,000 rpms at 80mph.

If you do a lot of highway driving, you will get a bit worse gas mileage. However, around town I'd say there's no difference, as the car has more grunt and you can up shift earlier.

For a swapped e30, a 2.93 is actually my favorite, but that's because the chassis is around 500 lbs lighter. I like long gears when the car has a broad powerband.

My 95 has a 3.15 back there so the bump in gearing will be that much more noticeable. 70% of my driving is highway. I cruise at ~73. I was averaging 20.5mpg and have changed my plugs on Tues. Up to 23.5 :p

Probably around 600 rpms higher vs. 500.

I also have a 95 M that had a 3.15. Revs increased by 300. I only notice the drop in mpg (about 1-2) on the highway. Instant torque...If you do a lot of highway driving maybe a 3.23 would be a good compromise or keep your 3.15.
