Thanks for the dimensions.
Hahhaa, yes that is the benefit, free ///M emblem, but are the 850 CSi models very rare in US particularly with manual gearbox?
I have the E36 M3 coupe but do admire the 8er as well.
Yea 224
While you're down there ...
All CSIs are manual. Can't imagine who would want one with an auto. Not true of today's car market.
What "thumbs up" really means
Ok...got to do some more work, and George (the owner of B12 5.0 #44) stopped by as he was in Orlando.
Here is what I accomplished on Saturday:
-- New hood pad installed
-- More cleaning on parts of the rear end (the car's, not mine )
-- Rear deck shelf, rear sunshade, rear seatbelts installed with all the trim
-- New C-pillars installed. Even the new ones are a pain and even succeeded in breaking two of the top tabs off
-- able to add some small trimming around the new 3rd brake light
Hope to take some pictures soon

Hey there Rog, since your car is not US spec....do you happen to have any of the 'green stripes' in front or rear windshields?

Actually, my front windshield was DOT AS1 spec (most if not all anymore universally are). AS1 spec is the DOT specification requirement for front windshields.
I was able to do some small things this weekend - it seems that everything takes so much time. I got the sunroof and everything in. All I lack is the A pillars and the sunroof motor cover to put in. they are done - just waiting to put the sunroof cover on after I check it out after reconnecting the batteries. As someone suggested, I used the allen wrench to move it about.

Hi Rog,
Was talking to a friend of mine who saw a silver E31 Alpina looking somewhat neglected in a lot near Nagoya some years back.
He was tempted to try and purchase it there and then, but ran out of time.
This could well have been your car, since there was only one B12 5.0 built in silver.
Sound familiar?

It very well may have been the car I purchased. The car was actually in pretty good shape, but in Japan, the Silver paint did not fare well at all - thus the look. I told everyone that it looked good like a 20 foot date - looked good from 20 feet away . It had a loose headliner that many did, but that has all been taken care of. I bought mine in December 2009 - wow - forgot that it had been that long!
Too, it may not have been, as the Japanese were know for sticking Alpina and other brand emblems on just about anything.

Correction.....It was sometime in 2004 that he saw it, just outside Nagoya.
It was sitting outside in a gravel parking lot.

2/24/14 UPDATE
--------------
Started to do some of the fun stuff:
--Started putting the trunk back together - speakers, some of the trim, etc. Did not put the side trim on yet as I have not reinstalled the shocks and need to get to the top to finish them.
--Placed the trunk trim panel and lights.
--Placed the new ALPINA and B12 5.0 Emblems on the trunk along with a new Roundel. I photographed everything with measurements before the emblems were taken off, so they went back on where they were originally.
--Placed the Door Handles.
Small Stuff..but it seems that everything takes longer than expected, especially when cleaning and polishing the lights, cleaning and relubricating all the door handle parts, plus getting my big hands in there to hook up everything

3/10/2014 Update
-----------------
I was able to get to some more work in the interior yesterday. I redyed the Alpina stripes on the rear seats and added some Hydefood leather treatment. Placed the recovered A pillars, rear seats, center console and side trim (they have been out almost 2 years!!!). Also took some pictures of the rear badges I placed last week. Next up will be taking the front seats in to have them touched up. I will redye the Alpina stripes back to their original color before putting them back into the car, and installing the Alpina Wood console.
Here are some pictures.
Seats with Hydefood leather treatment done just before installing:
Redyed Alpina stripes in original Alpina Colors:
Rear seats back in place after nearly 2 years being out!
New emblems:
The rear license plate holder comes from the new 1 and 6 series!
More to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful.
Absolutely stunning!!!
Outstanding work, Roger !!! How did you go about re-dyeing those Alpina stripes ? Did you remove them, dye them, then stitch them back in place ?
Incredible attention to detail

Beautiful work, Roger!
She's starting to come together again, and will probably be better than new, in many respects.

Anyone else get mildly hyponotised by the new ALPINA badge?
