    Oil catch cans?

Who all is using oil catch cans? My crank case breather hose looks pretty nasty, im thinking a catch can would be helpfull, b/c now its just a straight hose to the intake. I also heard somewhere that not using one promotes knock, or effectivly lower the octane level.
Anyone elce using these, or any input on them? Are the ones on ebay fine to use or does anyone know of a better place to get them?
