I am trying to install the alarm in my 1997 E36.
I have two different incomplete sets and I am trying to make one working.
1. set is old 3 button system (A269ZUA070) that has key fob, central unit, but it is missing wiring harness and LED/mic
2. newer 2 button system (A269ZUA110) that has central unit, wiring harness, but it is missing a key fob.
The best would be if I could find a 2 button key fob, but they seem rare and expensive.
The older system has connector with 22 pin, while the newer has 30 pin connector.
Does anyone know what the pinout is for the older 22 pin system?
If I know that, I could potentially modify the wiring harness so it works with older system.
I tried finding a picture of the 22 pin connector so I could decode the wires colors, but I couldn't find one that is clear enough online.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Nik
Unless you have a fob, control module and harness that all match you're not going to get anything to work.

I understand that, but I am hoping I can modify the wiring harness from 30 pin to 22 pin.
The other end (12 pin) that connects to the car is the same. I am assuming the colors of the wires are also the same on that end.
The only thing I need is what color wires are going to which pin on the 22 pin connector. Or the function of each pin.
Even just a close up picture of 22 pin connector with wires coming out of it would be helpful, so I can identify which wire goes to which pin.
Thanks
What type of battery is required for the 3 button key fob? I don't have it with me to open it up

Just installed a factory 2-button keyless and alarm in my z3 and am loving it. This thread helped me piece together my kit from junkyard parts. I ended up with the following parts when I started:
2x - 2 button control modules A269ZUA110
3x - 2 button wiring harnesses
1x - 3 button control module A269ZUA070
1x - 3 button wiring harness
2x - hood switch
2x - Factory horn
3x - LED ends (only one complete though, others were cut)
I was able to take the 1 of the 2 button ones and get everything programmed. I did not have to use the hood switch as the Z3 had one (I believe) and I was able to use the horn. I had to find the connector, which was under the fuse box next to the Brake Booster. Supposedly the Z3 had an extension cable for the horn. I have mine off now until I can piece together an extension. Works great now and much nicer not having to walk back to the car when I forget to lock it.

I recently purchased a car that only came with one key.
Following the 1st page,
I found the OBD1 alarm, I need a remote.

Can you still find these? If not any alternatives that'll work?

I need one of those 3 button fobs too.
Try googling the FCC number that fly has on the first page.

I was able to pull an wireless alarm module off of a 97 328i and got it installed but I cannot find where to plug in this wire which is close to the 12 PIN black connector? Can anyone help?

That single black pin connector is for the hood switch. The mating end to it is usually buried in the nest of harness wires on the left side of the glove box area once the box is removed. Many choose to leave it unplugged given the hood switch is frequently responsible for false alarms or prevents arming of the system due to loose switch connection in the engine compartment.
Does anyone know if the Z3 E36 alarm will fit into my 99 M3 convertible? It is the 2 button with part number 81 111 469 913. Thanks in advance!
The e36 Z3 alarm should be the same. Mine came from one but has a different part number than the one you listed. 82111469448. Should also have a FCC ID A269ZUA111.
I hate photobucket and what it’s done to the internet!
I just bought a 97 m3 and it came with a basic valet looking key, no fob or anything. Did any e36 come with a key with built in alarm fob like the e46 did? If so which model would my 97 have?
All EU models with option 302/305 thicked. This system is integrated into the ZKE4 and had no separate alarm module.
Since we don't have a 'pop-lock' on the E36, the 3rd button on the keyfob turns on the interior lights. In EU the panic mode function is disabled (hardware) so long-pressing this button does nothing.

I found my 3 button remote and got it working.(1993 325is) Car locks and unlocks no problem. When setting the alarm it will goes off after about five seconds. Does anyone know where to start to find out what the issue may be the causes the alarm to go off. I'm sure it's a process of elimination of the micro switches but I thought I would ask just in case someone else has been down this road. The hood switch has been disconnected. Any input would be appreciated.
Radio contact switch? If applicable to US cars.
