There did not appear to be any problems with the data pertaining to the E32. There were a total of 311,045 E32s. All of the E32s were rear wheel drive

This started as an attempt to obtain production data for E30 convertibles. After viewing the results, I decided to expand it to other models. All of the production data in this document is based off of the data on the 03/2001 and 02/2004 TIS CD. Any model that was still in production in 02/2004 is not listed in this guide. The E12 is not included, as the TIS CD does not contain all of the E12 data. In the near future, I will attempt to expand this using a more recent TIS CD and possibly the Mobile Tradition CD. The data is not perfect and a couple of assumptions were made. The numbers were verified
against other published production figures and were the same (or very close). Known problems and discrepancies will be pointed out. If you see any problems, know of other sources of production data, or would like to make a suggestion, please email Keith Turner

Wow at only 13k 740ils!! That's why they Are never in the junk yard lol. I've been raiding 525s and a recent 540 for spare parts.
Sent from my iPhone using BF.com
1993 740IL
Very cool. I didn't know that production was that low, and I didn't know that 2/3 of the total are M30 cars.
What's the difference between M60/1 and M60/2?
Nikasil/Alumasil?
(I still don't know which one I've got in my 94 740iL - don't know how to tell the difference.)
Personally, I have always wanted to know the breakdown of sub-model by country.
This does not appear to be data that BMW has ever released.
M60/1 = M60B30 3 liter engine, M60/2 M60B40 4 liter engine, as per info I found on google

In Germany the E32 730 V8 with M60B30 was available 1992/1993.
Probably for tax reasons. Also in Italy always lower engine capacity cars were sold.
They even made for Italy special versions. As far as I remember over 2000 cc became expensive for taxes in Italy.
For example the Italo E30 M3 320iS

Did somebody notice: in 1995 !! still 24 E32 740iL were built in right hand drive version in MYS. kce1900 and I discussed it on the German forum with a member which apparently then was a/the production line manager or something in Dingolfing for the E32 model line.
Looks like these were completely knocked-down (CKD) kits.

Don't even know where to start with this, but, I just purchased a 1990 BMW 750i, not an iL. It is a shortie euro car, apparently gray market. Orignially sold to a gentleman in Germany who subsequently moved for work to the U.S. bringing his BMW with him. At some point, he decided to move back to Germany and sold his car to someone here in the states, who in turn sold it to me.
I have been in contact with shogun, who seems to think, it may be a bit rare here, though bunches where manufactured that year. I went into BMW ETk here:
http://www.bmw-etk.info/parts-catalo...CE/L/A/1990/01
and discovered there were no U.S. Cars listed as being manufactured that year, just Euro "ece" and "jap" Japanese cars.
I'm wondering if others have ever seen or heard of another in the U.S.? I'm trying to get a feel for rarity. I have the production numbers, thanks again to shogun, but would like some feedback from the people that might know more here on the forum.
Thank you for your time

Well, I can tell you as an original owner, what you have is rare. When I shopped for my 1990 735I I lived in a home that had a garage that took my 735i with less than an inch to spare. At the time, I was thinking about the 750, but the salesman immediately turned me off to it as he knew my concerns. If it had come in the shorter wheelbase, I think I'd have it today. Or maybe not. I'm not sure how it would have held up. My M-30 I boast as being the finest six cylinder ever made by anyone....anywhere. And my thoughts are backed up, by what IS TODAY referred to as "The Bible Of The World And All Things" WIKIPEDIA. If Wiki says it's so............it's so!. Unless Shogun say otherwise. I'm not sure how much money our E32's will ever be worth, even in perfect condition (as I try and keep mine) but a car like that can be worth a incredible amount to its owner. And what could be more important than that? I would sure love to see pictures posted. Regards,
Jeff

I went back to bmw-etk.info because, at some point in the middle of the night, a light went on in my head. When I was entering the car information, at the point where you are supposed to select the country, there is no selection for USA throughout the entire production run. That tells me, that NONE were manufactured to be sent to the U.S. Consequently, the ONLY way these cars (if there are any more than this one) could have gotten into this country,was either grey market or brought in by their owners. Unfortunately, there is no way to find out how many are actually in this country. Oh well...
Croughtone32;
I absolutely agree with you about the M30. I also have a 1985 635CSi and it is an exceptional motor. I love it.
Shogun;
Thank you again, for your help. You're the best...

Super jealous of your good luck here. Over the years, I've seen a few E32 750i's for sale in Canada, where they were apparently somewhat easier to import from Europe. I think I've seen exactly one in the States, it was silver or grey and somewhere in the midwest at the time. There's no good way to know how many E32 750i's were imported to North America, but whatever the number, it wasn't a lot. Maybe one or two dozen, would be me wild guess.
Can we have some pics of this rare bird?
Gentlemen;
If it ever decides to stop snowing, I will absolutely post pics of it.

On the German 7-forum they just completed the check based on VIN decoder how many Highine versions were built, the result is less than I expected, based on these option codes
S445: qty 755
S446: qty 217
S447: qty 299
P448: qty 181
So in total the Highline version was built in a qty of only 1452 out of total built 33194 750iL.

Is it possible in the US to find out the actual number of E32 still registered/with licence plate for 2017? In Germany that is possible. The KBA = KraftFahrzeugBundesamt has these statistics. And the German e32 wiki updates it always.
as of 01.01.2017, Bestand in Deutschland
= listed are the numbers of E32 based on HSN = HerstellerSchluesselNummer = a 4 code number of the maker and TSN = TypSchluesselNummer = type code number in Germany accdg to data by the KBA. Statistics since 2008 include only registered cars including cars with season licence plates
0005/457 735i 1132 units
0005/465 730i 138 kW 1826 units
0005/466 750i 605 units
0005/524 730i 160 kW 647 units
0005/525 740i 210 kW 440 units
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_E32
no difference between i and iL as both have the same HSN and TSN, so for example to number of 750 of 605 includes i and iL, wheras probably the i in Germany is more than iL.
This does not include E32 kept somewhere by a collector w/o licence plates/registration.

I would be highly interested to know the numbers in the US. I see a lot of issues trying to get them though. Each state has its own DOT (department of transportation) with practically no federal oversight on commuter cars. Someone who wants to do the leg work would have to FIA (freedom of information act) each individual state and have to combine all the information from every state.

Maybe that's a question of money. There are some companies that trade in market analysis data. However, I don't know whether they can obtain figures for antiques like our E32. I never contacted any of them because the dollar figures are slightly off-putting. Here are two links:

Hello everyone,
Is there available anywhere the production numbers of individual colors? I just bought a 740i (UK market) in hellrot, and was curious how many were actually made in this color.
