damn this thread is OLD. I posted back in 04! haha.
Just another little tip for if you HAVE to shoot in direct sunlight.
Go ahead and turn the flash back on to "fill flash". It will help get rid of some of the hard shadows.
i do have stuff worthwhile contributing, i am a photo-journalist, who was taught @ aston martins pr department on how to photograph cars.
anyhow your being a touch hypocritical your still bumping this thread with comments such as yours!
but seeing as your not willing to read any advice i give on photographing vehicles, your gonna lose out as will others due to your rudeness.
and being on this forum is pointless.
cheerio old boy, what what

nice tip, but also go against the grain and utilise the sun flare to a creative effect, ie; take a reading and totally overexpose the flare or even go the other way by under exposing add camera shake, breath on the lens, the creativity is endless etc.
you could get your girl/man in the image all diffused and......... get the idea! dont stick to the manuals rules, go and experiment and cars are best shot on a hard standing, if you have to shoot a car on grass try and make sure the profile of the radial/tyre is not hidden by grass etc....
