I know that form follows function, but man... That nose is something that will take quite awhile to get used to.

If Red Bull runs the same nose, is it a good sign for Webber, after all the platypus is an Australian varmit?
Of the bunch, the Ferrari's nose appears the least sorted. It's all very angular, which would appear to contravene the current smooth and round aerodynamic shapes.

Im hoping the ferrari nose is a sham until the season starts. Please let it be so
Damn you FIA/teams for making what i already considered the ugliest F1 cars even worse somehow
That's easily one of the ugliest Ferraris ever. You'd want to think the Italians could design something that still looks good and still conforms to the new regs. However all that matters is if it's fast or not, we'll find out soon enough.
Comparison with the old car.

Also their exhaust looks far from legal.

wow, pretty wild that they both did a similar nose design.
Not just them. Caterham did that too.

The more i look at it the more i say if it wasnt for the nose this would be a beautiful set of cars.
The driver could not see the front wing before, now they cannot even see the nose.
I am very curious to see what the Red Bull looks like in comparison to the rest. Obviously McLaren is not using this design I am curious if RBR will.
Hunter S. Thompson -“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
If you go to the RBR website there is what looks to be a vague shot of the RB8.

Just think of it as a very large, very fast, and very very expensive flat-nosed screw driver.
It looks like a mashup of all the previous cars, at least judging by the height of the rear wing. Unless I'm not looking at what you refer to.Originally Posted by gary88

I remember the mercedes car going to a high elevated nose that was rounded last year and it was a bit fugly. This square'ish bump-up on top really throws this car off. What ever makes it go around the track faster is OK with me I guess...
I don't care about looks. I care about performance.
Fernando and whatshisface look thrilled

Meh - I enjoy F1 for the spectacle and engineering. Every year it seems a new batch of threads saying how ugly they are. Meh. Bring on the season. Ugly cars or not we are all going to be tuning in, talking trash and arguing with each other.
If that is the 'new' thing and makes them go fast. Have at it.
Best version of the stepped nose so far.
Hopefully they'll get some more podiums this year.
