I just heard from my local Portland, OR dealer (Kuni), that the 4cyl turbo will be made available in the X3 around the end of summer this year. I was a 6cyl fan, but have heard too much good about this mill to shun it just for the lack of a couple cyl's.

That's quite a bit behind schedule, but I'm gonna stick it out. If I have to wait any longer, that Q5 will start to look better & better.

BMW has confirmed the X3 28i will contain the N20 engine (4 cylinder turbo) for the 2013 model year which will begin in March 2012. You probably can get one in April.
