How many miles on your E60?

Mine would start fine. I would get a dynamic drive malfunction, radio sound would cut in and out, interior lights would flicker as well. If I shut off and restart the dynamic drive fault was gone. This only would happen when the weather was cold though. Like I said it went away after changing alternator but recently came back after 2 years. I just disconnected the battery sensor and its fine. The problem occurs due to overvoltage .....and as far as that relay, I dont think it has anything to do with charging system. If you unplug it, you get ABS faults. So its obviously for the ABS system. I changed it just to see being so cheap with no luck. The problem remains.

Wow cool I am sure the car goes into a default charging mode, and behaves like 99% of all the other cars out there

2nd owner on 2005 545i with 63K, also my 86 635csi has 125K :-)

I just replaced both with the same issues. all problems went away.

120k on mine, had since 70k, person i got it off of was original owner, all he did was brakes and clutch, all i have done is alternator and battery, and brakes and tires, other than that is has been a strong car that i am sure will make it well past 200k without any major problems, so whoever says stay away from first year models, i say hey sell my your car real cheap keep those rumors going please ......

I just got 06 530xit with 159000 miles.No warning lights on,everything works just fine.Got a printout from the dealer-mostly maintenance visits,the car is on all original parts except the air suspension pump.

The injectors were part of a past recall that had never been completed on this car - they said 4 of the 6 were from the lot included in the recall. As far as the wastegate noise on the turbos it does seem to be somewhat common on higher mileage 535's. It is a great car, but I would never in a million years consider one that is not a CPO vehicle. At 92k I have started looking for a lower mileage 535i to replace it in a few months before I cross the 100k mark.

I'd consider just going to a V8

2005 545i w/ 65k miles. Just got it last week. From looking at past records on carfax nothing major. Small oil leak from oil sending unit which will fix soon and it appears the control arm bushing may have been changed.

Alright guys, I've had the car for almost a month now and I put 2k miles on it, I borrowed my buddy's scanner and cylinder 2 & 3 are missing when the engine's cold so I'm taking it to the dealership one day next week to get the plugs changed.

For the money they are asking for a copo car I will spend another $10k to $15k and buy a 100% new car.

I have ~14K on my 2009 550 but I purchased it 3 months ago and it only had 12.5K on it

Just bought a 2005 520d Auto with 160,000 miles. Drives superbly. Planning to change ATF - contentious I know. Had it thoroughly checked over and the only other thing needing to be done is a track rod end.

I have a 05 530 I with 129k - I bought it with about 75k on it. I am second owner. I had to have a hose or two changed that was coming apart and I have a coolant leak that I will be getting fixed very soon. That's about it other than normal maintenance.

I also have a 92 325i with 438k. It is my daily driver. Original engine. The previous owner took very good care of the care. I've added a couple of mods to it.
