Would love to hear about anyone who has record mileage on their car and yet it still keeps goin & goin!
How many miles on your ride and what kind of (if any) major problems have you had along the way?
I'm only at 46k, but hoping to get to 100k+ without any major problems. *crosses fingers*
w/ 26K miles.
107k on the clock with minimal issues. Eccentric Shaft Sensor went bad and needed a sump gasket and top cover gasket. That was about all it needed and now the engine bay is real clean.

114k on my '06 525. No major issues in the last year that I've owned it. Just replaced the oil filter housing gasket and that's it aside from having the headlights restored.

I've got an '04 545i with about 63k on it. I've got some electrical stuff goin on lately but I think it just needs a new battery. Just need the time to get one
I'm gonna come pretty close to having the lowest mileage, I'm sure 18K on my 2008 550
Got a 2005 545 with 85,000. Just replaced original battery (wasn't fully charging) and spark plugs (a little ahead of scheduled 100k) recently. Running well.
2004 545 with sport package. Bought it wrecked with 55k on it and repaired the damage. It now has 86k on it. I have replaced the alternator and battery, water pump and thermostat, belts, some control arms front and rear, sunroof seal, I replaced the trim around both rear quarter glass on the doors, spark plugs, and the rest has all been maintenance. I change the oil and filter every 5-6k miles. No sludge in this motor.
2004 w/106k
I was having issues with dynamic drive malfunction and the radio cutting out. I read many posts where others replaced the alternator to correct this due to voltage spikes. The problems went away after replacement but have come back after 2 years. I just disconnected the IBS and its been fine sinceOriginally Posted by bbuchho90
hmmmm....more details on the malfunction? I ask because my car's been acting up and it seems to be either battery or alternator being bad. I'll be driving and it'll just randomly throw a bunch of dash warning lights, dynamic drive, abs, transmission fault, etc etc, and then my idrive screen will start flashing. Turn the car off and it wont start right away. but if i wait 5 minutes, it starts up no problem and doesnt have a single warning light. Was your issue anything like that?
120k on mine, had since 70k, person i got it off of was original owner, all he did was brakes and clutch, all i have done is alternator and battery, and brakes and tires, other than that is has been a strong car that i am sure will make it well past 200k without any major problems, so whoever says stay away from first year models, i say hey sell my your car real cheap keep those rumors going please ......
read this... replace both

545i 6 speed
Mine would start fine. I would get a dynamic drive malfunction, radio sound would cut in and out, interior lights would flicker as well. If I shut off and restart the dynamic drive fault was gone. This only would happen when the weather was cold though. Like I said it went away after changing alternator but recently came back after 2 years. I just disconnected the battery sensor and its fine. The problem occurs due to overvoltage .....and as far as that relay, I dont think it has anything to do with charging system. If you unplug it, you get ABS faults. So its obviously for the ABS system. I changed it just to see being so cheap with no luck. The problem remains.Originally Posted by bbuchho90

05 545i - 72k no worries yet! Changed a few oil gaskets and a control arm (my fault)...
Looking to make it to 200K. I have a 05 545i with 160K. Just replaced rear wheel bearing on passenger side will replace other side soon. Bought the car with 135K on it. So I am still a newbie to the BMW family. But love the ride and feel of the car. Battery is getting weak will replace that this weekend or sooner. I usually don't drive to work so it may last.
with 37,000. No problems, ever. (knocks on wood).
2004 525i with 82,000 miles. No major problems but have only put 10,000 on it since purchasing it last year.
2008 535i w/ 92k - in the shop right now having injectors and turbos replaced. Have to love a CPO car!
The injectors were part of a past recall that had never been completed on this car - they said 4 of the 6 were from the lot included in the recall. As far as the wastegate noise on the turbos it does seem to be somewhat common on higher mileage 535's. It is a great car, but I would never in a million years consider one that is not a CPO vehicle. At 92k I have started looking for a lower mileage 535i to replace it in a few months before I cross the 100k mark.
Well guys i ran into a problem lol. I gotta cel, I'm gonna borrow my buddys code scanner tomorrow to see what code its throwing. And gimme more info on the injector recall.
got '08 520d 120k kilometres, no problem at all. just veeeeery little turbo whistle
2005 - 530I - 150K
-no problems at all. *crosses fingers*
