Sorry to bump and old thread. I have the E36 power sport seats. I also have a set of E46 power sport seats. My recline is broken in my E36 seats. Will the gear in the E46 fit the E36? I am looking to junk the E46 sport seats as no one seems to want them and if I can salvage the gear, that would be excellent.

I believe the answer to your question is, no. The recline mechanism of the E46 is not the same as the E36.

Really? There is no way to adjust the various axii in a way that they will stay where they are adjusted to. The seat has several adjustments that have to be locked when set, and unlocked to make the setting. If you have electric seats, then there are motors with worm gears on them that allow for the adjustment then provide the means to lock the axis in place. There is a company that sells the seat gears, I had a link but I cannot find it. Search for BMW SEAT GEAR.
