TIP
If you need to remove rear shocks the "easy way" is to remove rear wishbone
This way you dont need to remove wheel well liner
Second time I removed rear shocks in ~30min per one side ( w/o rear parcel shelf )
rear pictures as promised :

I like this one
charged rear Koni's ( did it twice )
Hub/bearing combo installed on the rear axle with real axle tool ( this one was easy )
All rubbers have to be tightened in normal position ( 2003 530i Sport )
LF 400 MM
RF 395 MM
LR 380 MM
RR 375 MM
Finally all suspension is done
She is ready for alignment with 15MM spacers around and 5 style 8*18" wheels

Fantastic post & good to see people still enjoying the E39. Amazing you were able to find a clean/rust free car in the Chicago area though with all the salt they use. My car is starting to rust in spots but is going to body shop next week for repair.
You ask any ricer, any serious ricer. It doesn't matter if the other guy is racing or not. A win is a win.
Thanks dude
This is a good question and we all know Chicago cars are not perfect
Before making a deal it i asked seller to check if any BODY rust under the car and we didn't find any
If you look on pictures you can see that some driveline parts are rusted
I can deal with it as i decided to change ALL suspension anywhere and keep this car for the next 3-5 years
You cant expect from 10 years BMW to be perfect when you pay 20% of the retail price
As far as there is NO body rust and I6 engine is good i am happy
Where your 530i starts to rust ?
Post some pictures so i will check my in same spots
Thanks I

Just dropped off early at bodyshop so cant provide pics but below is were mine has surface rust spots.
-Inside fuel filler area were the two body seems meet. This is a common issue area for rust on E39 body.
-Left rear bottom of door on the inside & under the rubber seal. I got a rust free door from Texas that will be repainted & installed.
-Trunk lid around the lic plate lights. Again found a M5 trunk lid with lip spoiler that will be repainted & installed. Removing M5 emblem of course.
-Rt rear quarter panel just above bumper & about 3 inches back from wheel well opening. No idea why it started to rust there honestly.
I tried to replace panels when possible with good southern parts as fixing a rusty panel that can be replaced does not make sense to me.
You ask any ricer, any serious ricer. It doesn't matter if the other guy is racing or not. A win is a win.
-Inside fuel filler area
Almost all E39 i have this issue, i am not even considering it as an issue
-Trunk lid around the lic plate lights.
you can even find the same color from junk yard so it will be a simple swap
-Left rear bottom of door on the inside & under the rubber seal.
yap bottom of doors is the first place to check for the rust !
still its not a car body
-Rt rear quarter panel just above bumper & about 3 inches back from wheel well opening
should be not difficult to fix it
Also check your car for underbody rust !
( under side panel plastics, around drive shaft , differential , fuel filter , brake lines , etc )

Looks real good!!
i trusted seller and checked it only after installation
so far so good , really like this mod and wanted to do it from the first day i bought this car
now need to find rear door shades ...
there is a guy by me that is parting his rear shades on his rear doors. with the rear panels aswell.
NEVER argue with an idiot, as he will make you stoop to his level of idiocy.
Finally after 2.5 month looks like i am done with the foundation
OME Sport springs with Koni Yellow
18*8" 5 style wheels
15MM spacers around
-1.3 rear camber
