so those ess kits really fit the 3.0 v-8. im in the market but i wasnt sure if they were good or if they even fit.
im not sure. i know the pulley mounts differently. rather than bolting to the bolt circle for the crank pulley itself, it mounts to the front edge of the pulley with a bunch of drilled/tapped holes. i couldnt tell you if the offset is the same. id be worried about the offset and the diameter. the diameter will effect boost level if you interchange them. its offset will effect belt alignment issues with both the s/c and tensioner pulley.
ess gets 399 plus shipping (i think, did this end of last year so i cant recall exactly, but im 90% sure), dinan gets 187 plus shippeg. vortech gets the same or wont deal, i cant remember. since i was making a custom bracket, i just bought the dinan pulley. ess gets 6 or 700 for their tune as well. easier to just go miller and get it tuned.
b30 or b40, virtually identical engines on the outside. will definitely fit one or the other. tunes different.

Here is a peek at the mount for the new maf. It will be mounted to 3.5" and all welded up to a modified housing from the drive by wire setup. Better things to come.
I am soon to join the s/c club! Just need to source a few things....
I am looking for a base s/c tune for 7psi. Ess wants $800 and they are out of their minds, Miller will code a chip for me but they don't have anything off the shelf. Does anyone have a .ecu file for an m60 with a s/c?
Also i need a crank pulley for my ess kit, i have a powerdyne bd11. Does anyone know where i can find a crank pulley used?
You should PM DUDMD regarding the tuneOriginally Posted by frontin540i
i just thought about that, i have a chip from him now, didn't know if he had s/c stuff
he can help you out. but in all honesty go miller for tunability. if you ask nice theyll give you a s/c tune (dinan, same tune youd get from DUD), made for 32lb lucas injectors and a maf resistor.
and good luck finding a crank pulley used. i tried and it was a PITA. if youve got time before installing then keep a lookout. but inbetween all the i6 s/c crap, the v8 stuff is few and far between.

I spoke to miller, they said they didn't have anything I definitely want the war chip which is why I am looking for just the tune file.
Yeah, I pretty much figured I'll be spending the $400 for a new pulley anyway.
Also, anyone know what size belt I should use or how to figure it out? Ess wants $95 for a belt and that's just absurd.

find someone with the ess kit and have them read the numbers off the belt. did you ask ESS for the part number of the belt? might be able to decypher it that way. im sure e34nication can help since he has an ESS kit.
pm sent.

sweet thread!
It might be different because i have a Dinan kit, but i got my replacement belt at Napa auto parts. It was $27. Don't know if you have Napa auto parts stores out there.

oh and my set up currently
Car: 1995 540i/6
Engine: m60 with Dinan Cams
Supercharger kit is original Dinan kit
Blower model: bd11a
Tune: 404 DME Dinan chip
Injectors: don't remember size Dinan used, maybe 32lbs?
MAF: Dinan (turbotronics 10 module)
Intercooling: none
Boost level: 5lbs per Dinan, probably only seeing 3 lbs
Diff: Dinan 3.15lsd
Exhaust: was Dinan, now just Dinan tips on custom system from the cats back. sounds great
When I bought the car it already had the supercharger and everything else Dinan made for the e34 540i that the original owner had installed by Dinan.
Runs good, no real issues. Only complaint is that the powerdyne bd11a can't make much boost and mine seems to be making around 3 or 4 lbs probably due to age.
Instead of rebuilding it, I bought a Procharger D1SC. Plan is to try and place it in the same spot (aligned with current crank pulley) making a custom bracket and modify the piping to add a intercooler. Probably just run 8lbs. Put in cat deletes and get a miller WAR chip and retune it on a dyno local to me.
Oh and change to an electric fan.
only pictures I have, don't have any engine bay pics at the moment.
Right after I refinished my wheels and put them on

Axel Foley...
Does your bd11a have a billet impeller? Like the car by the way....
