Tune the exotics by profession but Bimmas are what I drive!
wow awsome thread, and love your build thread,
wouldnt mind a price on the mounts for a t56,
I have a manual 528i touring and am over in Australia,
seriously considering collecting the parts for this swap,
just looks too easy,
especially with all the hard work that has been pioneered by several guys on this forum
cheers Russ...
silly question ,how hard would it be to make a mirror reverse header set to suit RHD? prob just end up using shortie headers and modifying, but it doesnt hurt to ask, looking forward to placing an order for mounts in a month or so time, this is such a neat conversion
yeah just a silly thought, I like your simple jig ,looks like the way to do it, as I will be time limited to get her back on the road I would prob look for something off the shelf, just another silly thought,
have you considered using a gm spider drive (guibo) on the trans so only one end needs modifying,
I see the later camaro and caddilac's use a rubber doughnut on the output shaft, wonder how close it is to the BMW one, just thinking of simpler options,
Im not looking for race applications so the stock guibo's dont bother me,
or seeing the bmw trans in some models is a gm trans, would the guibo spider off the auto fit onto the t56 trans output shaft? just a crazy thort, almost plug and play,
cheers Russ...
yes but there is a chance the output shaft slines are the same, maybe a long shot but,
like you said better to just swap the front section to match,
worth asking if somebody had a BMW (GM version not ZF) auto and a t56 sitting close by
The guibo used on the 6 cylinder E39s with the auto transmission has the same dimensions as the guibo used on the Pontiac GTO with the T56 (Commodore equivalent in your case). The GTO part is made by Hardy Spicer and sold under part # RCA-1061. BMW part #s 26112226527 and 26117511454 (I believe the different BMW part #s are due to difference in durometer and not dimensions of the part)

wow you guys are good, it was just a silly thought, didnt think it would actually match up, that makes it so much easier and hopefully wont have the driveshaft issues JF had,
cheers Russ...
I just picked up a 2003 525i for an ls2/46e tranny installation and read your thread. Are those parts still available?
Thanks
I don't have a mount for a 4l60e, I could make one based off of online dimensions, but I can't guarantee fitment.
I have a 4l80e and t56/tr6060 mount.
Yes I do still produce these kits.
please call me at 2one466two42six9
...would you mind listing whats included in the kit? and price?
Thanks
