Please pm me a price for the engine and trans mounts for a 6 cylinder car. Considering the E39 instead of the E36 :-)

    E39 Wagon
Just joined the forum... going to purchase a 2001 e39 525i wagon to go with my 2001 530i sedan... I've owned the sedan since 90k miles - now has 189k and the wagon has 170k. One of them will get an LS1 - just a matter of which engine / trans goes first. In the meantime I'd like to do some homework - like determine which engine / (auto)trans combo will be the best. I'm not looking for anything beyond simple driveability / reliability. No crazy horsepower.
can't PM yet - first post... JF - please send me the pricing for engine / trans mounts and headers.
    thank you

Ever made a kit like this for an E53? This would be a great starting point to help me pull the trigger on an LS7 swap vs having to go custom made.

I haven't even looked at an e53 honestly. If I remember right bmwman528e was looking at doing a kit for one awhile back.
Or, when you're ready, make the trip to OR and I'll make a kit.

We've been speaking today and he's in the middle of creating the kit now. Thinking about it more though has me wondering if I should change my plans. I've got a 98 740iL w/ a brand new engine in it that I've started doing a 6spd swap in. I'm thinking that maybe I should swap new engine into my X5, figure out how to make an M62 engine work w/ an M62TU ECU, and then convert the X5 to 6spd. Then do an engine swap to an LSx engine into the 7 instead. I bought the X5 for it's AWD, so deleting it would defy the point of why I got it.

Sounds like a more logical plan. E38 LS would be VIP status.

The 7 hasn't been started in like 5yrs (long story) so it'd be nice to have it back on the road again. I texted my buddy who recently did an M62TU swap into his 95 540i which is originally powered by an M60 to get his advice on getting all the electronics to speak to each other, then I'd just have to figure out how to get the 6spd to work w/ the AWD if possible. All this means I need to get my Harley F150 fully up and running (just did a lower pulley swap, larger fuel rail and injectors, colder plugs and a few other tidbits...now I just need to get it retuned) before I can take th X5 outta commission. The things I get myself into...

Hi, I just joined today. I bought a 2000 540i Sport wagon with a dropped t. chain. Picked up an LS motor & a T6060 trans. Looking for a quote on a kit. My email is paulmcurran@gmail.com. Thanks, Paul

Can you pm me a price for the engine and trans mounts. Also price for the headers.
What oil pan are people using? No oil pan will clear the stock sway bar?

The mounts are designed to be used with an AutoKraft pan, but it doesn't allow the use of the stock sway bar.
I'm not aware of a pan that will work either.

This is interesting because I wonder about California application. Your design of the headers is so elegant and I'm wondering how close it is to the E-Rod style header and cat setup?

You'd never be able to get these headers through a referee in CA and so I'm curious to see the application (if possible) specific to work within the Democratic People's Republic of Kalifornia.

I recognize the steering rack and all of its obtrusiveness issues on the I6 motors, also the subframe, but, is there anything else that specifically causes major fitment issues?

I'm not sure what all California looks for in their emissions testing, so I'm not sure why the headers wouldn't pass as long as there was CA state legal cats right behind them.
But, like I said, I have no idea what they look for.

The rack and subframe aren't really tight tolerance areas IMO. The sway bar and steering shaft are the most difficult things to work around.

To breeze through an engine change inspection for an LS swap, the easiest way is to keep the stock layout like so:

Would you see it difficult to form fit this layout accoridng to the style of headers you've used for the I6 subframe, steering, etc?

Passenger side shouldn't be an issue, but I don't think you'd squeeze that setup around the steering shaft without some kind of modification.

So your saying the possibility of using the rack and pinion setup is probably impossible with this? It would be a shame to have to sacrifice the R&P steering feel. Also since the 540 subframe has the motor mounts so far forward.

Its very unlikely that those manifold would clear the steering shaft on either i6 or V8 subframe. As far as I know, there are no manifolds that will clear without modification.
