went to reconnect the battery after the car being parked up a while
found a lake instead of a battery and tray
any tips on how to dry it out? and what would be the cause of the leak!!!
im thinking to drive it down to the local petrol station and hoover the water out! but need to get road tax now cos its been off the road a while
try to use a cup, mop, shammy leather
other than those "tools" i dont have anything else to hand, and no wet vac at home
not bothered that it leaks yet, as i think its something to do with the steep hill its parked on, so ill start parking it on the flat!
just wanna get it dried out for now and worry about that later, i can put a car cover over it for now
bump for some tips on this please.
there is still water in the boot
when i open the lid, i feel water on the inside of it (where the tool tray is)
not sure where it is getting in from, but i really want to fix this before the water fecks up some electrics
still does it when parked on the flat
i bought the car in the summer and never had any rain/wet days where i noticed it up until january! (was away late last year)
a puddle of water collects under the battery tray, and its really hard to drain it all out (need to use a supersponge thing to absorb it all up!
is there a way to remove the battery tray?
got a feeling it might start rusting! this is not good at all

hi mate,
thanks for your response but:
the M3 dont have a spare wheel well (because of the exhaust system is in the way)
however, the water isnt collected mostly under the boot mat, but instead underneath where the battery sits, in the boot on the right hand side of the car
its so tight that i cant even get my hand down there
just about squeeze one of those bathroom mop supersponge things down there, i leave it for a few mins and it absorbs most of the water out (cant do this everytime it rains, or everytime i wanna use the car, lol)

Thats what i found online. Best thing is to try that and then go from there

ok thank you, that link is pretty cool, ill give that a shot, need an air compressor or one of those vacs! thanks for the link
scared that if i drill a hole it might cause the car to rust???
i think it might be the drain holes blocked, it makes sense
will give it a try and report back, might not be for a while since the car isnt with me right now
Its most probably your trunk seal.
ill have to get cracking with checking bits on it!
hey gang, old post, but dont believe i never knew this.
I should have started with coat hanger/tube thingy as described in e46fanatics threads.
coat hanger dislodged gunk under convertible top plate. then use warm water and flush a few times.
draino initially worked, but then failed. also tried hydrogen peroxide, so maybe there is a chemical factory in the car.
flushed multiple times and got the woooshing sounds of a sink drain, perffect! dont give up, go for and preventative maintenance from here on out!!!
