The humble 316 holds the entry-level position in the E30 stable. Released on an unsuspecting world in January 1983.Despite the name, the car actually had an 1800cc engine, inherited from the E21. It earned its 316 for being the only carburreted model in the range.
Probably one of the few in States with 50k miles.

just finished giving my car a much needed wash.
New to me.
1990 French 318i (m40 from factory) slicktop with M42b18, transmission, and suspension swapped from a wrecked 318is.
Royalblau Metallic over blue cloth interior. 160,000km (99,400 miles).
It’s a respray in the original color, but very well done.
Was clean when I bought her, but spent the last couple days doing a thorough clean on her, inside and out.
Apart from having had an engine swap it’s in great original condition. Plan to keep it that way mostly, just touching up missing moldings and broken trim pieces as needed to get her back to 100%. Still has the break in instruction sticker on the windshield even!

Thanks!
Interestingly our license plates ran sequentially up to a certain point in time, so today I saw on old MG (on a flatbed obviously) and could tell that it was at least imported and registered after my car was just based on the plate number.
License plates here are issued once for a vehicle when it is sold new or imported, and they stay with the vehicle for it's entire life, which can complicate things as certain license plates can drive on certain days in the core of the capital city (San Jose). So if you buy all your cars with plates that end in 9 and 0, you won't have anything to drive on Fridays.
Appearance wise they're just like North American plates, but obviously not quite the same in practice.
